Crystals are my go to razor blade. I have a coarse beard and they give a great shave. If you are having issues with these blades perhaps you need a more efficient razor. I use a RazoRock slant and a Phoenix DOC primary and get a great first pass with these blades. Most of the time I don’t even need a second pass. As others have stated these blades are also comfortable as I never get weepers or skin irritation when I use them which I cannot say about Feather Blades. Give them a try but if you have a coarse beard a Merkur safety bar razor probably is not the most efficient choice for you.

My go-to blade after trying a large sample pack. Smooth, sharp and affordable, these blades last me 3-5 good shaves of 3-4 passes each. I have sensitive skin with a thick beard and these provide consistently smooth shaves with minimal irritation in both my Merkur 34C and Rockwell 6S.

I’ve found that Platinum coated blades generally work well for my wirey red whiskers but not these. These were very tuggy, rough and required too many touch ups. I enjoy Rapira Platinum, Personna Platinum and Perma-sharp. But Crystals were uncomfortable in my Merkur 34c. I gave them a few tries so far.

At 30c a blade, these represent excellent value for money. I didn’t realise how sharp they were on my first shave and ended up looking like a Freddy Krueger victim, my fault entirely.
Subsequent slightly more careful shaves gave a smooth result for 3 shaves of 2 passes. I would buy these again.

Not my favorite blade, but YMMV. Crystal blades do not quite “cut” my coarse hair well. They are not harsh on the skin, but very smooth, so that is to their credit. However, I experienced excessive tugging with these blades. Also, I found that I had to do a lot of touch up, even after a fourth pass, leading to irritation. These are a good value when you realize that this is a ten pack, but they just didn’t make the grade for me.

After wet shaving for 30+ years, I tried these blades and they are by far, the best DE blades for the money. They are very sharp, but also very smooth. Unlike Feather and Kai, which I find much sharper (too sharp, IMHO) but also less comfortable and much more expensive per shave, Crystal blades are the right balance between very sharp, very comfortable and very affordable. I get 3 – 4 shaves per blade but YMMV. After testing many other blades, these are my go-to blades for a BBS shave every time.

I’ve just finished trying about 10 different blades in an Ikon slant razor. These are far and above the best, most comfortable, closest, shaving blades for me. In 20+ years of shaving I have finally found a method and razor/blade combo that doesn’t make me want to go right out and get laser hair removal on the lower neck. I don’t imagine using anything else anytime soon.

Good blades, but too mild if used in a mild razor.I get good shaves, except in my Muhle R 89. I need too many passes and touch ups with the Muhle and Crystal

Got a sample pack from Maggards and tried the CRYSTAL blades first. I had been using Pharmacy DE blades for my first blades and found them way, way to dull, only able to get 1 shave from them, and uncomfortable from the first pass down my cheek. Then came Crystal DE Blades, They were the first to try out of the pack, and what a better shave it was! Close, Comfortable, and way, more affordable. I was using blades from a Pharmacy here in town and they were junk. Way to dull out of the pack and cut my face much faster, since a dull blade will cut you faster than a sharp one even when used correctly. If your new to wet shaving give them a try you may like them, they are at the top of the list for me for now. Just my Two Cents. Hope it helps
