Product Description

Those with skin sensitivities will rejoice every time they reach for a tub of Tabula Rasa Shaving Soap. Made with natural, skin-nurturing ingredients like mango butter, argan oil, and shea butter, these soaps create an amazingly thick lather that provides excellent glide and a cushioned, comfortable shave. Each soap also contains a proprietary Swiss-made agent called Stimu-tex, loaded with linoleic acid to provide relief from skin irritations, itching, and dry skin. The end result is smooth, hydrated skin that feels soft to the touch for hours after shaving. The long-lasting results have led some Tabula Rasa fans to skip aftershave altogether!

Tabula Rasa’s Steampunk line is inspired by the fascinating movement of the same name, a retro-futurtic subculture that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by Victorian industrial steam-powered machinery. Steampunk Shaving Soap is scented with a nostalgic, yet modern blend of Atlas cedarwood, violet, lime, and musk; the diving bell on the package is a nod to Jules Verne’s ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,’ a source of Steampunk inspiration.

Handcrafted in small batches by artisans in Germany.

One of the best-kept secrets in wet shaving, Tabula Rasa offers a line of shave soaps, aftershaves, and fragrances that truly defies expectation. The perfect combination of natural ingredients and European skincare technology, each product is designed to nurture skin, leaving it soft, smooth, and healthy. Formulated  to work for even sensitive and allergy-prone types, Tabula Rasa’s face-friendly range has gained a worldwide cult following. Grab a tub or bottle today, and you’ll see why!

Steam Punk is one of my favourite shave soaps, but I’ve put off reviewing it because nothing about it quite fits into any box. In consistency it is, as noted above, either a very dense cream or a very soft soap. In performance, it’s thirsty and produces a lather that’s slick but also pastier than anything else I use. Every time it comes up in my rotation I have to learn how to use it all over again, yet I always end up loving it.. And although I am skeptical of “proprietary ingredients,” it does actually leave my sensitive skin feeling very comfortable.

The scent is even more elusive, The cedar notes and elemi evoke the wood panels and old-book smells of a university library, and the green, buttoned-down scent of violet suggests the dapper but eccentric professor who strides from his office to tinker with his time machine. Brandy snifters, yellowed maps, leather and cigars. A scent completely without sweetness, it’s entirely masculine but also entirely without bluster or bravado. Sort of the exact opposite of a Nickelback album.

The serving size is smallish, making this a pricey shave product, but seriously, who among us is still holding onto the idea that “wet shaving is going to save me tons of money”? If you’re reading reviews of artisan shave soap, you’re waay past that!

I summary, buy this soap. It will make you happy and help you invent a time machine.

I must admit I was disappointed by the weight of this tub, especially for the price. It seems the soap is whipped up, making it very fluffy. I think this helps when loading the brush. I really like this scent, it hard for me to describe but I continue to enjoy it shave after shave. Maybe some light floral scent like a orchid? Seems like the essence of freshness, I dunno. Is it expensive yes, but for me at least, it’s worth it. I do not seek the cheapest soaps and creams to shave with, but amazing ones with unique scents that I truly enjoy. I’m happy with this purchase.

This is simply one of the best shaving products you can use. The scent is amazing and the fragrance is persistent even after shaving. The lather is so dense and creamy and builds with no effort at all. The consistency of this soap is between a cream and a hard soap. The price is very high when compared to the weight is comes but definitelly worth the money.
This soap is as good as martin decandre in my opinion as I own both and tested them.
