Scotsman Alexander Simpson started production of shaving brushes and male grooming ancillaries in 1919 and is widely regarded as a pioneer in the industry. Manufacturing was originally based in the East end of London but later in Clapham.

In 1941, following the loss of his factory during the World War II German Luftwaffe blitz, production was moved to the West Country at the famous Nimmer Mill. Today Simpson shaving brushes and associated products are manufactured by Progress Shaving Brush (Vulfix) Limited on the historic Isle of Man. They continue to be produced in the traditional way using hand tied knots by time served, skilled workers.

The Trafalgar is the latest offering from our new line of Alexander Simpson Est. 1919 shaving brushes. This superbly crafted & eye catching lathe turned handle is filled with our uniquely sourced Sovereign grade synthetic fiber.

Best brush for any use!

Have a good badger, boar, and even another synthetic brush but since getting this one I reach for it the most. My other brushes are good and perform well but this one is just the right consistency of backbone and knot size to make face lathering much easier for me. Was a little worried about it being a shorter brush than my others but after using it a few times that concern disappeared. I did wash it first with a strong non-conditioned hair shampoo out of habit and the brush has performed fantastic!! Highly recommend this brush to anyone!!

The worst brush I have. It has a very high glue bump, I can't use it.

From the moment I got this brush, I felt like I was in a level of luxury, that as a poor man, I rarely experience. Luxury and good service are off limits to me! The cardboard container is just beautiful. The texture, the understatement of not putting the name in huge letters. They sure did well with synthetic. There is no break in period. No foul smell. The handle is beautiful, like a chess piece for a gentleman's club. The feel of the knots, the weight and balance. It is amazing to feel what a company that makes expensive brushes can do at their lower tiers. I was having doubts about my judgement of the proper size, because it's in mm, and they don't convert to inches or have photos of the different brushes, next to a guy's thumb or something to judge scale. But, it is small, but I like the size of it. My former favorite brush was the Semogue boar bristle with the acrylic handle, which is neat and has been for years. Now, I wonder what I will think of it in comparison. This is like a Rolls-Royce. Believe me, I'm a critical person and not easy to please. If this is up to my standards, that means something. I guess the other reviewer is right, Paul, with the critical review, that you don't want to mix and load soaps with it. You want to baby it. You want to use a cheap $8 brush for such abuse, and then only use this on your face. I don't know how long it will last or if it will break or warp, if it will be due to user error. Only time will tell.

Simpson's Trafalgar T2 Synthetic has been a near daily driver for a while - maybe a year. Lathers well! Dries quickly! Face lathers well, bowl lathers well. Maneuvers well. I can mash it if I need to without any negative after effects. A winner.

I got this brush as a travel synth. It is compact and lathers well. The loft is shorter then I would prefer but when combined with a shave stick or sample sized soap it fits into the dopp bag perfectly and dries quickly. I dont think it is the ideal brush for a face lather but with my travel bowl it creates a lather just as well as any of my other brushes. The splay feels different from other brushes but I mostly paint with it so it doesnt really affect me. This wouldnt be my first choice as a brush when I am at home but I have all my other brushes for that. I will most likely pick up the T3 version to use at home and this T2 will have a permanent spot in my bag for future trips.
