The Colossus Handle is 4″ long and weighs 86 grams.
The Bamboo handle is 3½” long and weighs 56 grams. The handle has a nice matte finish, providing a secure grip without the need for knurling.

R1:  The R1 Base Plate is the mid aggressive and most versatile of the solid bar line with a .58 mm blade gap.
M1: The M1 Base Plate is the mildest and most gentle of the solid bar line with a .25 mm blade gap.
H1:  The H1 Base Plate is the most aggressive of the solid bar line with a .91 mm blade gap.

R2: The R2 Base Plate is the mid aggressive and most versatile of the open comb line with a .58 mm blade gap.
M2: The M2 Base Plate is the mildest and most gentle of the open comb line with a .25 mm blade gap.
H2: The H2 Base Plate is the most aggressive of the open comb line with a .91 mm blade gap.

This tool is wonderfully machined with very tight tolerances. The blade seats precisely in the head with symmetrical blade exposure. This razor is easy to master because the shave angle is very intuitive. In addition the razor “sings” like no other. This audible feedback is helpful in maintaining a proper shave angle.

Bought the ATT Atlas S2 slant and love it! It shaves like a dream! in my eyes its the best American made Slant on the market, and quite possibly in my honest opinion the world. Pricey, yes but what do you expect for a razor that will last you and you family more than a lifetime.

I bought the Atlas hand with the S1 head a few weeks ago. It is the first slant to enter my rotation. First, let me describe the handle…

With the head, I felt like the Atlas offered the best balance in terms of weight between the ATT handles. It feels solid in your hand and the head weight is still certainly there. The barber pole knurling feels excellent, looks great, and I feel like I won’t drop the razor at all with the knurling. Great handle!

The S1 head is fantastic. There is no blade wiggle that I have noticed. It is surprisingly a much more mild shave than what I expected. It is very efficient and gives a great shave every time. The hardest part is getting my neck and I could just need adjust my technique with the S1 head. This is a must have head in your shave den.

Overall, both pieces are fantastic and recommended. This is a must buy for any shaving enthusiast.

I have the ATT Atlas handle with M1, M2, and R1 baseplates. Other razors I have owned include the stainless Weber with the polished head and an Edwin Jagger R89 and a refinished 1968 Gillette slim adjustable and a Merkur 34C HD. While all of these other razors are fine the ATT razor is my favorite and I would part with all of the others before this one. The build quality is fantastic. The mechanism by which the blade is locked in place is unique and you never need to worry that the blade is not evenly centered. It also offers more audible feedback than any other razor I have owned…when you are at the right angle you can literally hear each hair “shick”. I regularly alternate between the M1 and R1 plates. The R1 gives a closer more efficient shave than the Edwin Jagger but requires a bit more care. I think it is a tad more aggressive than the Weber and the Merkur and for me works best with a smooth blade rather than a very sharp blade. The M1 shaves similarly to the EJ. Because it has such a small blade gap it works better with a very sharp blade and I Find it difficult to cut myself with the M1. So if I am in a hurry or just want a nice carefree shave I use the M1 but if I want a really BBS shave I use the R1. The M2 for me shaves somewhat in between…it is more aggressive than the M1 despite the same blade gap but I find that the open comb has more of a tendency to cause irritation or razor burn than the closed combs. Of course, as always, individual mileage will vary. In summary, after spending the money on the ATT razor, I am confident I have no need for any other razor ever. This razor will outlive me and probably my children and grandchildren. The interchangeble baseplates allows me to customize my shaves. If I were to do it again I might have purchased the intermediate length Kronos handle but the Atlas handle works fine and is very maneuverable.

Above the Tie Atlas Double Edge Safety Razor is one of the very few “gold standard” of razors made today. You have the choice of mild thru aggressive plates (3), OC or closed comb, slant (2) if you like too. I’ve been shaving with ATT for 2 years and still am singing its praises.
