These are my goto blades in almost every razor I use. Both sharp and smooth! Excellent value for the money !

Love these blades. They came in the starter kit I got from this website and the sample pack too. I wasn’t sure about them at first, when I first started wet-shaving, but as I’ve improved my shaving, these have proven to be a bright spot. I’ve been making the rounds through my sample pack and these got used up in a hurry!

And Maggard has them in bulk packs! Will be ordering them very soon.

I have used a few different blades and have came to the decision that these are the best for my skin and beard combo.. They are so smooth on my skin while cutting my whiskers with ease. I now am in the market for a BIG bulk box, I dont want to run out any time soon. just got to save those dollars.

Have used Personna blue and the blades were too aggressive for me. These Astra blades give a bbs shave. I bought the sampler pack.

    :

I tried a few blade brands and I really liked these for the price, not as good as Rapira Platinum Lux, but close to being just as sharp, and offers a decent fairly smooth shave, I actually preferred them over the much more expensive Gillette Platinum blades. I have no problem with this Astra brand and you sure can’t beat the price.

I’m going through a blade rotation, but the Astras (both Platinum and Stainless) have been my favorite so far. They seem both sharp and smooth. I don’t notice any tugging, and it will go right through 3 days growth for me. I still have a lot of blades to try, but I wouldn’t be shocked if these remain among my favorites.

    :

This is the first blade that I tried. On my first DE shave, I got an effortless shave, I couldn’t even feel the blade cutting. I used Maggard pre-shave oil and Proraso Red shave cream in a tube for that shave. I only made a 1.75 pass shave but I got one of the best shaves of my life (I was being very careful, which helped). I have since ordered and tried 20 or so other blades and yesterday I popped one of these in my new MR5 razor and I got that same effortless shave as the first time. This is definitely a 5 star blade for me, low price (one of the lowest), sharp, smooth and it lasts several shaves.

This blade is in my top 3. Pairs well with my EJ89L razor. Perfect balance of blade sharpness and aggressiveness for my beard. I find that the second shave is the smoothest for me. I generally toss them after 3 uses but YMMV.

Received as part of an assortment. These are my favorites of the group. I just re-ordered more of them. They work well whether it’s for 3 days growth, or just one day. I use them on a MR8 maggard razor.

I hated these blades when I first started DE shaving, but now I’ve realized that my technique was to blame. These work great in all my razors, and have earned a place in my top three. They are also an incredible value, making it hard for me to pay two or three times more for other blades.

Good value. Great price. Great blade for those new to wet shaving.

    :

These are currently my favorite blades (although I’m working through a sample pack). I can consistently get 8-10 good shaves from each blade. A good combination of sharpness and durability.

    :

Relatively smooth, very sharp, and one of the most cost effective blades out there. A must try.

Sharp, smooth. Great blade for a great price.

Great blade, great price. I only get three shaves out of each blade, but at the cost I still come out ahead of Feathers! I can get a reasonable two-pass shave out of Astra, when paired with my FaTip or Cadet open comb razor. Sharp enough for my coarse hair, and yet smooth enough to let me finish without nicks or weepers. I do get mild razor burn if I push it to a third pass though. These were some of the first blades I tried as a beginner, and they still remain among my favorites. As always, YMMV, but I love these blades!

The Best: great price, smooth, sharp, durable and prdictable. What more could you want from a razor blade?

    :

The Astra SP has been for me, very consistent, Sharp (above average), and smooth. It gives me one of the closest shaves, but can sometimes irritate if i chase it far enough.
Make no mistake, i like this blade, but i can’t put this into the perfect category due to desiring just a tad more smoothness (Astra SS does this better, but loses its edge much sooner than the SP)

If it shaves for you like it has for me, i would say it is exceptional value considering its longevity and price.
Above average ability to hold an edge. Ican get a minimum of 4 great shaves.
3rd shave on one edge is rough, but weird thing is that altough subsequent shaves decline in sharpness, it often gets smoother. I usually keep it under 5 shaves for the two edges combined, but once experimented on its limits. Lost track after about the 10 shave on one edge. I put a guess of about 20 shaves with more to spare. The stranger part is that the next time i tried this on the other edge of the same blade, i only got to 10 shaves before deciding it was too blunt for my liking.

NOTE: Apart from an irritating shave from a recently purchased Gillette Tech (non adjustable), this review is based on use in a Gillette Slim or Fatboy. I have no other non adjustable razor experience. (Shaved 1/2 half face, & then transfered blade from Tech Adjustable razor rest of face, and the Gillette adjustable was definitely kinder to my skin with this blade, technique, etc.)

    :

Very smooth blades and very consistent shaves. I jumped in early in my DE shaving career on the Astra blade bandwagon and I am so glad that I did. I have sampled at least 20 different other blades along the way and I cannot find one that matches the smoothness and reliability of the Astra SP. Not only are these a great blade, but they are a great deal too! Even in my more aggressive razors, I still get a great shave with the Astra SPs and you really can’t ask more from your blades than to be the goldilocks of sharpness and smoothness when you are putting them in different razors. I can’t recommend this blade highly enough.

    :

These Astras have now become my new favorite budget blades, surpassing my old favorites Derby Extra in smoothness and forgiveness. These are the blades that unlike Feather or Shark won’t bite part your face off when misshandled. They will cut nicely and sharp enough to do so without a tug of war with your razor. The quality of these is consistent, you will get the same results one pack as you will get on the next, that was another downside to the Derbys which in same pack some weren’t as good as others. I get some of the best shaves with these blades and for the price you can’t go wrong.

    :

I will keep this short. For the price point, you’re not going to find a better blade than these Platinum Astras. Nice and sharp, and with the right cream/soap the results will be immaculate. And, as usual, the customer service and shipping from Maggards is top notch.

    :

Seem to be a good blade. Blades seem to either work for a person our not. The stainless work great for me. These take more passes and work for a smooth shave. Guess it all depends on a person’s beard type, razor and etc. Give them a try well worth out for the price. Maggards great place for all your shaving needs!

    :

My first blade. Used in MP3 head V3 Standard. How to shave I liked it, but the experience is not enough, especially not compared with anything else. It is soft and sharp moderation. I recommend beginners to try.

    :

I recently bought a pack of these blades from Maggard and shaved with an old Gillette (butterfly) adjustable razor after making good lather with a Maggard synthetic hair brush . . . . I first rubbed some baby oil on my face before applying lather (Williams shaving soap)

The shave was SMOOTH . . . . short shaving strokes on 2-day stubble . . . . will definitely be using ASTRA blades in the future

    :

This is one of the best blades on the market. Always thought it was merely hype caused by fan boy syndrome.

Very smooth, very sharp. Very comfortable. Just started this blade in my trial. Its a very good blade. have 4 shaves on the blade so far, and it has not changed in sharpness, smooth ness, or in how well it performs. It has only changed between shaves on the basis of, each shave has increased the irritation a little bit.

So for me, on the 4th shave with the same Astra ASP blade, I get less irritation then a shark on the first shave…. And the irritation is the same as a Platinum Plus from brazil on its 3rd shave.
