Product Description

Arguably one of the most famous blends of tea in the world, Earl Grey is believed to be named after Charles, the Second Earl Grey, and was first produced by Charlton & Co. of Jermyn St. in London around 1880. The tea is traditionally flavored with bergamot, a peppery relative of orange from Italy. Its distinctive scent had never been re-created in shaving soap until Barrister and Mann® decided to give it a go.

We blend American clary sage, bergamot, and small amounts of lavender and patchouli to create a very realistic interpretation of the smell of Earl Grey (the tea, not the man). It’s our founder’s favorite, and we think you’ll love it too!

Wet your shaving brush well, then swirl it around the jar for roughly thirty seconds or until a rich, creamy lather is formed. Continue building the lather by adding water and swirling your brush either on your face in a lathering bowl. Shave, rinse, and spend your day feeling great.

Nothing can reach the primary secondary slickness of these soaps. Maggard’s service is out of this planet. Thank you.

Lather is superb of course. Hard to beat B&M. Nice post shave as well. The scent is great and quite strong and stays with you after the shave, which I like. I have a sample in an open container and it fills the bathroom. The only regret I have is I didn’t buy the tub, but I will. I can’t recommend this soap enough!

When I first opened the container of soap, I was very put off by the scent. Not my cup of tea. If I were not so frugal, I would have thrown it away. Good thing, because the first shave showed me how outstanding B&M soaps perform. Then after a week of use, I started to like the fragrance, I mean really like it. I swear it must contain coca leaves because it became addictive. I found myself opening it even when I was not going to shave. Lesson learned, never be too quick to judge.

Barrister & Mann shaving soaps are at the the top of my pile. This like many of their other soaps provide a superb shave with great post shave feel. Slickness and cushion I believe is second to none. Give them a go and you will understand why people rate their soaps so highly.

The first thing you need to know about B&M is that it lathers like a boss! They are some of my favorite soaps due to the thick, shiny, yogurt lather they produce. They are also very slick and moisturizing because of the lanolin content. Another high point is the way the scents are blended. They are very complex and have a lot of different ingredients, yet blend perfectly together. In Cheshire, I smell the herbaceous-ness the most. The leafy and green smells, along with the lavender are what I pick up on immediately. There’s also a hint of citrusy, bitter bergamot which rounds the scent out nicely. Scent strength is almost perfect: not too overpowering, yet lasts an entire shave. The packaging is also very good, as it features an oversized tub to allow suds to fall back into. Overall awesome product!
