Product Description

Barrister and Mann proudly presents Petrichor, a soap that smells exactly as it sounds. Utterly unlike most other attempts to capture the atmosphere of damp soil and misty loam, Petrichor conjures images of Scottish moors and dark forests sparkling with dew, festooned with the bounty of the skies. It’s a wonderful way to start or end your day, and we hope you find it as refreshing as we do.

BEETS BEETS BEETS. If you have ever grown and canned beets, you will recognize the main note here. Your like or dislike of this fragrance will come down to if geosimin is a gross or earthy note to your nose. I hated it. My wife thought I was weird and needed to toughen up and just use it. She quite liked it.

Performance was top notch, as expected for B&M soaps. They don’t get much better.

Very good performance, nice thick lather and the smell is really the one we have here before a big thunderstorm. Mild but lasting.

I like it. Very mild scent, but strong enough to stick around for a couple of hours after the shave. Nice, earthy smell. My wife is not a fan, though. I asked her to take a sniff and tell me what she thought it smelled like. She took a sniff, looked at me quizzically, then said, “It smells kind of like dirt.” I said, “yes! Exactly what it’s supposed to smell like!” She couldn’t stop laughing at the idea of a person wanting to smell like dirt after taking a shower. I guess she has a point.

I bought this soap at Maggard’s last week and tried it this morning. It is an easy to lather soap with good cushion and excellent slickness. The scent is just as described. Unfortunately, I convinced myself that this was a scent that I would enjoy. It isn’t! This is my own fault, as B&M’s description was accurate, so, 5 stars. I guess I need a little sugar in the mix to enjoy it. You may love it.

Performance is of course like any other B&M soap. I’m a little torn on the scent. It does nail the “after a rain storm” type. However it is not as refreshing as I had hoped. I would stress that this is only my personal preference. If you are looking for what the scent description states, you’ll be absolutely happy with your purchase. Better grab it while you can, as there is no guarantee this will return in the future.

Performance is great like all the other glissant-based B&M soaps, so no surprise there. The scent here nails the “after rain” smell I remember as a kid jumping around in the rain and staying outside afterwards, too. Between this soap, L&L Grooming After the Rain, and Chiseled Face Summer Storm, this soap gets the “after rain” scent the most accurate IMO.
