Product Description

Everyone has a different idea of what a barbershop ought to smell like, but we tend to lean historically for this kind of stuff. Giovanni Maria Farina famously created the very first Eau de Cologne in the early 1700s, and it was an instant success. His formula was prized by the royal courts, and was so highly regarded that it’s still in production today. As a result of this popularity, Eau de Cologne fragrances have been staples in European barbershops for well over a hundred years.

While we don’t claim to be as gifted as Signor Farina, our Seville scent is definitely in a class all its own. Affectionately dubbed “God’s barbershop” by some of our more poetic customers, Seville is a blend of lemon, bergamot, rosemary, lavender, patchouli, and oakmoss. The name comes from the famous opera The Barber of Seville, but the scent is at home anywhere. Give it a try; you won’t be disappointed.

Overall, Excelsior represents a significant upgrade over the performance of Glissant and will last considerably longer because it’s a much harder product. It produces lather similar to that of Barrister’s Reserve®, but does not exhibit the gooey, stringy characteristics of its softer cousin. Those who love the lather they get from Barrister’s Reserve® soaps but who find the soap difficult to work with will very likely enjoy the performance of Excelsior a great deal.

One of my favorites, right up there with the best both in performance and scent.

What is there to say? B&M soap base is fantastic, and this scent is so nice and refreshing while still smelling great. I have zero regrets about adding this to my collection.

Fantastic scent, an instant classic. Im not one of those people who can pick up the notes of a soap, but its very cologne-esque, with a bit of a citrusy smell. The soap base is second to none. Great post-shave, fantastic pillowy lather.

I’ve ordered almost the entire set of B&M samples Maggard is offering, and this was the first soap I’ve ordered in regular size.
Great scent, top notch performance, easy to lather and provides great protection and post shave. One of the best soaps in my collection.

This is a great soap: excellent perfume , lots of lather , easy to use, good protection on the skin and excellent post shaving . Promoted with full marks.

A perfect soap. The slickness is from another planet, you could easily finish a shave with just the residual slickness but this is not the right way to shave.

Anyway, the Excelsior base seems to be tricky to lather, needs tons of water, once dialed in the performance is second to none. Highly recommended.

The customer service from Brad and Jerick is fantastic.

I recently picked up a tub of soap and the matching AS and was not disappointed. My first time trying BaM and I can say the hype is warranted. The scent is not this soap is amazing and has instantly become one of my favorites. The performance isn’t lacking either and I’ve found the lather really easy to dial in. Takes a good bit of water but definitely worth the buy.

I’m in the minority here. I think this is weak scented compared to Wills other offerings. Performance is top notch but scent, which is subjective, I don’t get it…. ROAM and Hallows are much better than this…

If you like Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood, this scent if for you. I have other scents I favor more, but that’s not the fault of this soap. In fact, I gave away my TOBS cream as I never use it anymore after Seville. The scent is barbershop with a bit of spice and slight citrus smell. Not overpowering, but really nice and fresh in the morning and 1-2 hours after I still get a bit of a scent.

The performance is excellent. Lathers quickly. The lather is probably the smoothest and one of the slickest I have ever used. Excellent shave every time.

Favorite scent in my rotation, the other being B&M Oceana. Both perform the same: amazingly. I eagerly await the release of Seville’s matching aftershave which is supposed to be sometime this month.

This is one of my favourite scents this is a must buy in tour den…recommend to everyone who like strong barbershop scents to try it!
Has a performer, is a B&M Soap after all great lather, great cushion, and great glide, you can feel the soap scent after shaving

A great soap. Its lathers thick and slick in no time for a great shave — I lather on my face. It is one of my favorite soaps. I keep about six shaving soaps and tried about ten others and have never found any objectionable. I’m more interested in the closeness of the shave. Seville is one of my favorites because I get a great shave. The scent is fine, too.

I’m not sure why it’s so well liked. It’s a solid meh. It does lather reasonably well, it does have a somewhat interesting scent, but I can’t say much more about it that’s positive. I don’t find the lather that great, nor is it especially slick. You won’t feel ripped off, but I don’t think it will amaze you either. I suppose it’s good for beginners, maybe a nice intro soft soap. It certainly has a different scent than what you’ll find in a box store, but it’s nothing like the extreme (and amazing) smells like in other B&M soaps. It isn’t bad, but I regret buying a big tub, a sample would have done. The B&M LAVANILLE is very different and very much remarkable! I’d also rank Cologne Russe above this one.

Translate: I was quite surprised by this B & M not only for its great aroma of lemon and other citrus notes, but for its great peculiarity of making an excellent moisturizing and protective foam that provides the shea butter, the amount of Lanolin and tallow in this soap, which makes it very easy to foaming.

One of my faves of all time. It is a great scent, great performer, great post shave, and packaging. It’s a spicy citrus version of barbershop where it’s not really a barbershop at all. It’s worth it!

B&M’s Seville shaving soap is out of this world!
It so quick & easy to make a ridiculously dense, shiny, creamy lather that offers ample slickness & protection for even the most sensitive skin types. I can even use this stuff in the cold, dry Maine winter without a pre-shave oil, which isn’t possible with non-B&M soaps or else my neck is covered with razor burn. The upgraded Glissant base that has been available since September 2016 makes this all the more true.
The scent is wonderfully crisp & refreshing, and the new packaging in the low-profile jar with the topography map bull sticker on the lid is as classy & hip as it gets.
I’d give it 10 stars if I could!

Easily whips up thick lather that provides a smooth straight razor shave. The scent is wonderful and lasts for hours post shave. Leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft.

Great scent. Not as slick and protective as a high-quality shaving cream. But, for a soap…it’s very good. As always, YMMV.

Heard and read a lot of great reviews for this particular barrister & mann soap/scent. Def agree, its a soap that will be in the steady rotation. Its got a great slickness that is noticed after washing off the first pass and lathering up for the 2nd. The scent for me has a bit of a powdery fresh scent??? Not sure if that was the goal but I liked it! Great soap overall!

I had ordered a couple samples of other Barrister and Mann scents and enjoyed them, so I just pulled the trigger on a full puck of Seville as soon as I saw that it was available. I’m glad I did. My favorite scent of all the soaps that I have tried so far. A masculine scent with a citrus twist, this is what I brought to my family to smell when they thought I was clearly crazy with the number of wet shaving purchases lately. Well, they still think I’m crazy, but they did pass the puck around a few times and couldn’t get enough of it. Regarding the quality of the lather…it’s Barrister and Mann. ’nuff said. This will likely be my go-to shaving soap, and looking forward to trying the AS.

When I first opened this soap I didn’t care for the scent, not even when I started lathering it… The second day it just got to me, it simply made me feel GOOD when I was putting it on my face.

I really recommend it, the after-shave feel is just top-notch, and so is the lather.

Simply the best soap I’ve ever used!!! Its the total package smells great, protects great and great post shave feel.

I have been wet shaving now for over 12 months. In that period I have tried many shaving soaps and creams with the objective to find the best one to use on a regular basis for my sensitive face. Now that I have used B & M Seville several times, I can confirm that this provides the best shave on many fronts. For me it ranks top for scent, lather, cushion and slickness. I now understand why this is rated so highly many users.

B&M soaps are just top notch. This scent is one of my favorites.

  25. 4 out of 5

The scent is just terrible for me. The lather is nice but the scent is just super bitter weird scent.

  26. 5 out of 5

One of the most Impressive Artisan soaps I’ve ever used. Every aspect of this soap is far more superior to others. I admit, It’s a bit pricey, but If you haven’t tried B&M yet… DO IT! You won’t regret it. The scent is certainly a type of Barbershop to my nose, but with a touch more citrus. One of my favourites besides Adagio & Leviathan.

A soap that I use almost weekly. B&M soaps are my “go to”. They always perform at a top level. The slickness, lather and scent are the best. If there was only one scent I could buy from B&M, it would be Seville. Just a classic barbershop scent.

  28. 5 out of 5

I purchased the Seville scent because it’s the B&M barbershop scent. I smell barbershop along with a lemon scent that I wasn’t really expecting but it smells wonderful. I would say it’s a barbershop scent with a twist of lemon. The soap performed very well. It has given me many fantastic shaves with it’s amazing slickness and thick lather. This is a top performer and is in my everyday rotation.

Did a test lather of this today…incredible…the scent, the slickness, the density, the cushioning. Maybe one of the best lathers I’ve seen. The scent reminds me of a lemony rosemary kinda vibe but much more complex…in a very masculine kinda way…it is barbershop…has hints of Dr Harris Arlington. Very pleasant and nice strength.

Barrister & Mann Seville has become the #1 soap in my rotation of 20+ soaps (not to mention my creams). In fact, it’s all but stopped my rotation. It always attracts me back to it – day after day. The robust, classic scent and premium performance are unmatchable. A true gentleman’s soap that starts (or ends) the day right!

The #2 soap in my rotation, not far behind LPV from Catie’s Bubbles. Awesome in every aspect. 10/10.

  32. 5 out of 5

Barrister & Mann Seville shaving soap is the first Barrister & Mann soap I tried and like all of their soaps is a 10 of 10’s. Seville has everything: aroma, lather, protection and glide. In my permanent rotation.
