Product Description

It’s not a shaving cream, it’s Cella
The secrets of its success lie in the strict production process; the carefully selected top ingredients, saponification using the hot-mix method in a steam boiler, and the fact that it is slowly matured in special temperature-controlled tanks.

The original recipe, which dates back to 1899, ensures a frothy, compact, softening high performance foam that moisturizes the face during shaving, preventing irritation and leaving the skin incredibly soft.
Its characteristic almond scent and the ease with which the razor glides over its smooth texture make it truly unique.

To obtain a soft, firm foam, wet the brush in warm water, pick up the cream soap and begin to lather it in a bowl with circular movements, then lather up the face, spreading the foam over the skin evenly, right down to the root.

You really can’t go wrong here. It’s a very old recipe that has a very clean ingredient list. The scent is, well think, in your face cherry with a bit of almond to it. It is very nice and quite bright and clean. Almost invigorating. Performance is almost unbeatable especially when considering the year the recipe was formulated and all of the artisan soap choices on the market. Obviously you can get better performance but you really don’t need to because this stuff is slick and has a nice voluminous lather and a good post shave, oh and it is very easy to lather.. so If you’re new to wetshaving this is almost a right-of-passage so give it a try! You wont be disappointed.

This soap smells great. I find it performs much better with a face lather rather than using a bowl, but wish that it offered a bit more cushion.

With it’s sweet cherry like smell Cella is the very best “winter” soap/cream,period.The lather is easy to make and among the top 3 slickest, the protection you get is beyond compare.Just get one.

simple, sophistication. can vary in performance deponding upon how you store it between shaves, tightly closed up or loosely closed. But it lathers well and provides glide and protection.

Bottom line, Cella is an excellent Italian shave soap. It probably won’t be highly ranked among coinsures or shave snobs, but Cella remains a quality daily shaver. Expect a mild almond scent (almost amaretto with hints of cherry). It consistently lathers nicely and has a smooth finish that rinses clean. If you’re looking for something mild for those early morning shaves, Cella really is among the best I’ve tried.

I used the soap for the first time today and found it to be an excellent soap.

I had originally ordered this as a sample, which arrived in a portion generous enough to allow 5 full 4 pass shaves. these shaves were all clean and comfortable so I ordered a tub. Upon receiving the shipment, I used the Cella the following day with a fresh blade, and proceeded to get a very rough shave, with lots of tugging, pulling and a rather large nick. The following morning I swapped out the blade, figuring it was defective, and using Cella again, and got a slightly better shave, though nowhere near to the quality of shaves I’m used to. Additionally, within 2 hours, I started getting rash-like bumps and a burning sensation all over my throat and lower neck. I gave myself a couple of days off from shaving, and then shaved using the same blade and razor combination used previously, changing the Cella for another soap I’d used previously with good result, and was treated to a close, comfortable shave once again, same as I had always gotten.
I don’t know why I would have different results from the sample, but this tub of Cella is now tucked away in the back of my shave cabinet. I will try this again, when I am able to refrain from shaving should I have a repeat of the discomfort, but am not confident this is the soap for me.

Very slick and a nice almond scent, a go to practical soap when simplicity is key.

Great smelling and performing soap at a low price. Leathers great, face or bowl… I might suggest it’s people’s technique or brush creating the sub par lather. Slick and BBD post shave results.

This is one of the 1st soaps I ever used. This soap performs well. I am not understanding why the 1st reviewer said tallow soaps cannot take water. Some tallow soaps can take a lot of water.

Excellent classic italian-style shaving soap. Classic almond/cherry scent. Texture and scent is similar to Antica Barbieria Colla shaving cream. The performance of Antica Barbieria Colla is better, but it also costs significantly more. This is a standard italian-style soft soap, so for me it lathers as easy and similar to a cream. Lather, protection, glide, and post-shave are all very good. I have sensitive skin and I didn’t experience any problems with Cella.

I am new to wet shaving. This is the first shaving soap I have tried. So far I am very happy with it. Even with my hard water and inexperience I seem to be able to work up a good lather. I also like the smell of it a lot. I would buy again but I am looking forward to trying other soaps and creams.

I picked up the sample just because I had heard it was a good soap to try during my soap expedition. I pressed the soap down into my mug I usually use for soaking my brush and just ran it under a bit of hot water before loading. At first I wasn’t impressed by the loading (felt like I should see more lather) but I decided to face lather after the loading and poof! I thought, okay, this lathers pretty good on my face, that’s good….and then I shaved. This is the first soap I’ve tried to literally had my razor gliding on my skin. For two shaves in a row, I said “wow” both times. So slick!

Not good for sensitive skin. It can’t take alot of water due to the fact that it’s a tallow based soap and the lather wasn’t that good either even though I worked the soap alot longer than I normally did. The smell of sweet cherries and almonds was the only reason this product got 3 stars instead of 1 and the smell quickly diminished once it was worked into a lather.
