If you are someone who gets irritation from other soaps you should give this a try. For example, Arko is a great lathering soap but it leaves my skin a bit dry and irritated. I’ve used the Derby Normal scent and the Lavender and they both give a good irritation free shave. It does take a bit more work to get a lather (compared to Arko for example) and it’s not a thick creamy yogurt lather, but it gets the job done. If you use low aggression razors like the Tech then the lighter lather is a plus as it doesn’t clog things up.
The Lavender scent is very light as others have said. The Derby Normal scent is kind of just an unscented soap.
I’ve also used the Normal Derby to “improve” other soaps that give irritation. Just add a dab of it to the other soap…

This cream is great for the price! With just a fingertip (3/4″) full, you can bowl lather or go straight to a face lather and get enough lather for a full three pass with clean-ups. It has a nice slickness. This slickness continues to come out when a little water is added to your skin for a quick touch up. the lavender scent is not strong or overpowering, but is subtle and makes for a nice shave. The cream washes off easily and does not leave a filmy residue. The cushion and slickness gives me some of the closest shaves I’ve had. Slap on some Clubman’s and Nivea cream and you are ready to go! I’ve got it in my rotation and will continue to use it.

As always YMMV. My beard is normal with thicker growth on the chin area, with a very sensitive neck. Blades I’ve used are Gillette Silver Blue, Rapira Platinum Lux, and Personna Reds. Razor was the Merkur 33C.

Thanks Maggard for selling this great cream!

Honestly, I am a soap guy, and have only tried 3 creams, so am not sure how valid an opinion I can render. So, with that said, I found this to be priced well, and it is slick. Not much scent. Good if you are in a hurry.

Subtle fragrance. Good cushioning. Long lasting with a good lather. Great for your lady. Can’t go wrong with this cream.
