I’ve had one of these since 2014 and have had no issues with it at all. It still looks like new, works well, is mild, and even using the inexpensive Dorco st300 blades I’ve never experienced an issue or burn. The lined handle gives just enough texture to prevent slipping in wet hands, while retaining a very elegant style.

I wish I would have started with this razor. I bought the 34C and I find this one way smoother. It is one of my favorite of many razors I own. It is for beginners and seasoned wet shavers. Take care of it and it will last a lifetime.

Long time user of the Merkur 34C (4 years), just like the other reviewer. I would still get that occasional razor burn and discomfort from the 34C. Finally tried the EJ DE89L and have been loving it since I purchased in February. I have mine paired with Personna “Labe Blue” and its the perfect combination for my coarse beard and sensitive skin. Given the price range of the his razor, I consider it a must try for all DE users. Now I will say it probably wont give you that super BBS shave, due to it’s mild nature. YMMV…

I need to start off by stating that your shipping is outstanding! I ordered late on a Wednesday morning and my package was delivered by noon the following day!
Upon opening the package out came a beautiful razor. The finish is perfect and the feel in the hand told me that my shaving experience was going to be awesome. So far I have used it one time and I was not let down. The Edwin Jagger is a shaving instrument!! Highly recommended!

After a few shaves with this razor, it is now my daily shaver. Definitely a mild razor, which for me, as a bearded head shaver, makes it ideal. The fit & finish are wonderful, absolutely no variance in the blade gap. For beginning wet shavers, and esp head shavers, I don’t know if you can do better for the price. I think it all comes down to handle preference, and while some claim this lined handle to be slick, it’s most certainly not in my experience.

I started off wet shaving using the Merkur “Heavy Classic” Double-Edged Safety Razor 34C. While this is an awesome razor, I would still get the occasional razor burn on my neck. After doing some research, I decided to try the Edwin Jagger. The two razors are similar, however the Jagger has not given me any issues. I feel the finish on this razor is also better than the Merkur. If the Merkur is an 8/10 the Jagger is a 9.5/10. Highly recommend!!
