The Testina Gentile is a 3 piece safety razor with a closed comb head. The handle has an ionic style column that breaks with the elegant knurled base that facilitates the opening of the screw head. It is made entirely of brass and then subjected to the process of chrome plating. The closed comb head ensures that the razor works well with different lengths of hair growth, giving a very accurate but less aggressive shave.

Customer review

I commend Maggard for accurately and promptly filling my order and for the honesty of its video review of this razor. I made the purchase with my eyes open, fully aware of the razor's less than stellar chrome finish and the need to manually align the blade before use. Still, this product was below expectations. Though this was my first purchase from Maggard, this was the fifth Fatip DE Safety Razor (others included Retro and Gentile). I accepted the defects in the finish and the need to align the blade. I did so because of the Fatip Gentile's primary virtues: it was Feather-like in its gentleness and equally as efficient. Unfortunately, the one shave that I endured with this razor was none of this. The shave was irritating, resulted in multiple nicks, and was barely average in closeness. Owing to nuances in design and manufacture, when the cutting edges of the blade finally were situated parallel to and equidistant from the edges of the top cap, the gaps between the blade's edges and each of the two safety bars were different. But perhaps more significantly, the ridges on the two safety bars were not smooth as on other closed comb razors; nor were they only slightly pronounced as on my other Fatip Gentile closed comb razors. Rather, they were sharply peaked and jagged. It hurt to run my finger across them with the razor disassembled. I think this will be my last Fatip.

I love all the Fatip products and find them to be of good quality. This is an all brass razor, I have not had any blade alignment problems and fit and finish are good. This is as good a starter razor as any... I have even took the open and closed comb plates, a Fatip top cap and Fatip handle to make an "adjustable" travel razor.
