If you have only one DE razor, it should be a FaTip Grande. If you have more than one razor, at least one should be a FaTip Grande.

    •Solid, brass construction
    •Gentle open comb
•Holds DE blades with great rigidity for ease of shaving in long, continuous passes with or against the grain
•Equally great performance reported by people who press the cap against their skin, press the comb against their skin, or split the difference.
•Generous blade exposure mixed with a versatile design allows the user to make it shave as gentle or aggressive-feeling as desired.

The _only_ downside is its threads aren’t the current industry standard, so one can’t enjoy placing this stubble-pwning marvel atop a Maggards MR3 handle. A razor-lover can get very attached to a Maggards MR-3 handle even though the FaTip Grande works perfectly perfect with its stock handle.

It’s simply amazing. Also, I really, really like it and like using it.

I’ve got mine a few days ago and gave it a try a few times and I think it’s overall a great razor in terms of shaving – smooth and efficient. However, like most people, mine has blade alignment issues. From what i’ve understand is that you either get a good one and all you have to do is drop the blade and you’re ready to shave or you have to spend 5 mins aligning it by yourself. There’s also a very small change of getting a defective one which is impossible to align properly. I was ”lucky” with mine and now I have to align it before shaving. I contacted Maggard razors and they said that it’s a very common problem with the Fatip razors and that I have to align the blade by myself, which isn’t what I expected to hear, but that’s what it is. Just pray to the shaving Gods that you never get the completely defective one, because from what i’ve heard from other people, they’re completely unusable. I know this isn’t Maggard’s fault that Fatip QC isn’t top notch, but still i’m not 100% satisfied with the product.

Nickel over brass! Nice finish, easy blade alignment. Grippy handle. Efficient shaver. Lot of razor for the price! Assertive, not aggressive.

Horrible blade aliment. DANGEROUS. Buyer beware.

I was looking for a modern razor to compliment my vintage Gillette open comb razor. This fit the bill. The head is like a Gillette OLD type with a long comb. The weight is in my favored 58-70 g range. The large diameter handle adds variety to my collection and is easy to hold. The plating looks vastly improved compared to V1. It’s very shiny with almost no scratches. The top cap has 1 teeny air bubble, but that’s it. No major problems with blade alignment and it shaves like an 80 year old razor. I’m happy.

Having read all the reviews, I was concerned about the Fatip Grande being too aggressive. I found the Grande to be very balanced, without being too aggressive. It’s also very nicely crafted and is quite nice looking. This will be one of my favorites!

I’ve had one of these now got a few months and have to say it’s a great little razor. I have four razors I use now, this Fatip, R41, the Maggard V2OC and the Ikon Tech. All great razors but I have to admit the V2OC is slowly getting the most use and becoming my number one razor on MR11 handle. For the price you can’t beat the Maggard line of razors and they shave as good if not better than some of the high priced ones. They look great and shave great at a great price! What more could a person need? And the service and shipping is great from Maggards.

Bought one of these about 2 months ago. Awesome aggressive razor. I flip between my fatip and my MR1. Love the open comb too. I think it works better with cream like Proraso for the best Italian shave.

Awesome razor. It is all brass, too! Including the head parts, with smooth threading.
As said, this is a nice razor when going with very little pressure. I recommend so-called smooth blades, however sharp ones. That could be Voskhod, Lord Platinum class, BIC, Wilkinson sword

    Have a great shave!

I went from straight razor shaving with shavettes to this safety razor because I wanted a quicker shave. Read a lot about how splendid Fatip was and I am now very glad I bought it. I am a blond guy with a not too thick beard but I like to shave every third day. If I do not use any pressure at all I will get a Baby Butt Smoth shave on two passes, WTG, XTG and some minor extra polishing. The razor is so agressive it is not meant that you should do a three pass shave. When I try that I usually get some razor burn. The razor is really smooth gliding and the open comb makes it very easy to rinse clean. The finish could be better but it is still a very beautiful razor. In Sweden it cost about 15 $ more.
