This is my new favorite razor!

I was a little hesitant to order a Fatip because of the mixed reviews but I really wanted to try an open comb razor; I’m glad I did.

The fit and finish was extremely good, as was the blade alignment. I looked for an issue and honestly couldn’t find one; this simply does not look like a twenty dollar razor.

One word to describe the performance is: efficient. The open comb and weight make this a shaving beast. If your technique is poor, the shaving beast will eat you; respect the beast. NO PRESSURE- let the weight of the razor do the work. I’d also suggest a smooth, mild blade (it pairs really well with my favored Astra Green).

If you are an experienced wet shaver and you’re interested in open combs- get this Piccolo. You will not be disappointed.

What a great little razor! Got an excellent one pass shave this morning. I know Fatip has had quality control issues, but the fit and finish on mine was fine. Some of the tooling is a little rough, but it shaved really well!

    :

Pretty great little razor at a VERY reasonable price. The Piccolo has good weight, balance, perfect blade alignment, and efficient shaver. It is also a smaller razor hence the name piccolo, for reference is a little smaller than a vintage super speed. One detail I love about this razor is that the ends of the blades don’t protrude beyond the head much at all which which I personally like.
The only real con I have is that the handle is poorly designed. The second there is any moisture it does become quite slick and since it is a smaller razor it does prove to be a pain to hold on to. This is all avoided by making sure your fingers are always very dry. I think a little bit of knurling would’ve helped tremendously. That being said this razor does not use the standard threading so putting the head on a different handle is out of the question.
I do happen to like this razor very much and it will stay in rotation for me. It would make an excellent travel razor as well and honestly if it wasn’t for the handle/threading issue this would have 5 stars easily.
Overall it’s a great shave, comfortable, great fit, and very affordable. I would for sure recommend this to a friend.

    :

My favorite DE open comb razor. Smooth, close shave is the norm with this razor. If I used only one DR razor, this is the one. It matches the shave of my R41 and Futur on setting 6, but needs less effort. The price is wonderful. By the way it is heaver than the Fatip Grande.

    :

The Fatip Piccolo is an aggressive but smooth open comb razor. You will want to use a light hand with it to avoid irritation, but if you can keep the pressure off the Fatip will deliver an effortlessly smooth shave. BBS shaves are the norm for this razor, not the exception.

    :

I gave this razor a bad review the first time. To be honest I have a son that’s gotten into DE shaving. He gave this razor a try and really likes it for on his neck area. So I decided to try it again last night and used an Astra SP blade and ended up with a two pass shave with some touch ups. I also ended up with the best BBS I’ve ever had! Must have been my technique the first time or just a bad day for me. My son likes this razor so much I’ll have to order another now. I felt I should rewrite my review as apparently I didn’t give this razor a fair try to begin with. Anyone looking for a good open comb razor that gets the job done don’t hesitate getting this one!

I was looking for something more aggressive than my weber so tried a Muhele R41. Very harsh shave, no cuts but not comfortable! This little guy shaves a treat, smooth, comfortable just what I was looking for. Razor is quite decently finished and blade alignment is fine. I found if one places the cap upside down on a towel and placing the blade squarely on the cap and pushing down with two fingers until the blades seats all the way down to the very bottom of the last thread seems to center quite well. I’m a happy shaver!

    :

Fit and finish are equal to merkur. I have no problem with blade fitting where it should and is solid with no blade play. Not overly aggressive but gives a good close shave, closer then a 34C. Service and shipping was outstanding.

    :

I’ve owned a Fatip Piccolo for over a year now and I Love it. It’s my favorite safety razor when I have a four or five day beard growth. Great craftsmanship, weight, a short handle (a tad shorter than my Merkur 34c) and a nice finish. Cuts through my beard effortlessly. Pair it up with your favorite razor blade and shaving soap or cream and your in for a great experience. Highly recommended!

Of course the service and shipping from Maggards was excellent as always…the razor itself I don’t like…has excessive play in the posts on the top piece and his in the bottom piece..have to play around with it more to get the blade to stay aligned….thought it would be more aggressive than what it is but I get a closer shave with my Parker 94R than this one…the shave was ok with no nicks or weepers but as I mentioned the Parker does a better job….wouldn’t recommend this razor to anyone and the one I have is going back in the box and staying there…do yourself a favor and buy the Maggard razor or one if their other brands you be glad you did!
