Product Description

The FR0929 is a Pure Badger shaving brush with a Faux Ebony handle.  The measurements are as follows:

Knot: 20mm

A brush of surprising quality given the cost.   Frank Shaving brushes are manufactured in China – the source of where the world’s Badger hair supply comes from.  Cutting out the middle man companies means the savings gets passed on to the consumer.   The handles are lathe turned from solid acrylic – just like brushes costing 2-3 times the price.  The badger hair is of surprising quality – although there may be higher quality knots out there, we feel like these brushes represent a fantastic value.

Frank Shaving brushes come in several badger hair grades.  From lowest to highest grade they are as follows:

Pure Hair
Mixed Hair
Best Hair
Finest Hair
Silvertip Hair

With the numerous positive reviews, we decided to reach out to Frank Shaving.  The result?

Finally, a dependable, reliable, fast shipping USA vendor that stocks Frank Shaving brushes.  Place an order with us, and have the brush in your hands in 2-3 days.

There is only one catch.   If you get a brush that has a manufacturer defect (a knot that sheds, a knot that falls out of handle, etc etc), we probably won’t be able to replace the brush like we are sometimes able to with our other manufacturer’s products.    We can try, but we can’t guarantee it.   We have to make sure that we don’t lose money on these brushes – so, purchase them knowing that you are taking a small (VERY small) chance that you could get a shedding knot.  I have heard extremely good things about Frank Shaving brushes, however – and I do not think that this is going to be a huge problem.

All in all, these brushes are truly beautiful.  Right out of the box, I suggest rubbing the brush across your palm several times, you will see a few loose hairs pop out.  Normally, manufacturers do this as part of Quality control before they are packaged – but I’ve noticed a few extra hairs in these brushes that are loose, so maybe they are skipping this step.   Remove these before your first shave.

I’ve been using this for two months now. Slight shedding for the first few shaves, but now it works like a champ with more shedding. Excellent brush at any price. But for $12, I highly recommend this brush for every day use.

I’ve had this brush for a couple months and have three Frank Shaves brushes total. I think they are the best value is having. Never had a quality control issue, except on this one the FS has worn off and the handle is pure black now, no biggie. It’s TWELVE bucks and performs like some of my 50.00 brushes. Remember in shavedom price doesn’t always equal performance!!!

I’ve been wet shaving for 15 years, or so, face lathering shaving creams with a variety of Best and Silvertip brushes, and have come to find that I actually prefer a little scritchiness going on – I like the face scrub and exfoliation that I think keeps the ingrown hairs away.

I threw 2 of these (1 black, 1 ivory) in my shopping cart almost on a whim to try some Pure, but after 2 weeks of daily use you can color me impressed! Good backbone, just the right amount of scritch, lathers like a demon, no quality issues at all (the warning in the product description itself notwithstanding).

Great value – 1 is now in my travel kit and the other has become my daily driver.

I’ve purchased two of these brushes now: one for a friend and the other for my dad, both exploring wet shaving for the first time. The first brush I ordered was, frankly, amazing. Right out of the box, it was as soft as my months old silvertip brush. I de-funked it for my dad, and during the process maybe lost 15 hairs. Afterward, the hair blossomed out nicely and made lather like a champ. The second brush was almost the opposite. The brush was coarse and prickly out of the box. I went to de-funk it and during a simple “get the brush wet and rub it around on my palm” procedure, I managed to get the hair into a knot. Like, hair all tangled and very difficult to free. I ended up using a fork from my kitchen to dig deep into the brush, pulling out individual hairs from the mess. And during that process, easily lost 30+ hairs. My hands and sink were covered. It lathers well enough, but had I not taken the time to clean the brush before giving it to my friend, he’d like have just thrown it away and never go any further into wet shaving.

So a mixed review. If you get a good one, what a bargain. If you get a bad one… might consider just buying two to begin with.
