Product Description

The SI26-FI33 is a Silvertip Badger shaving brush with a Faux Ivory handle.

A brush of surprising quality given the cost.   Frank Shaving brushes are manufactured in China – the source of where the world’s Badger hair supply comes from.  Cutting out the middle man companies means the savings gets passed on to the consumer.   The handles are lathe turned from solid acrylic – just like brushes costing 2-3 times the price.  The badger hair is of surprising quality – although there may be higher quality knots out there, we feel like these brushes represent a fantastic value.

Frank Shaving brushes come in several badger hair grades.  From lowest to highest grade they are as follows:

Pure Hair
Mixed Hair
Best Hair
Finest Hair
Silvertip Hair

With the numerous positive reviews, we decided to reach out to Frank Shaving.  The result?

Finally, a dependable, reliable, fast shipping USA vendor that stocks Frank Shaving brushes.  Place an order with us, and have the brush in your hands in 2-3 days.

There is only one catch.   If you get a brush that has a manufacturer defect (a knot that sheds, a knot that falls out of handle, etc etc), we probably won’t be able to replace the brush like we are sometimes able to with our other manufacturer’s products.    We can try, but we can’t guarantee it.   We have to make sure that we don’t lose money on these brushes – so, purchase them knowing that you are taking a small (VERY small) chance that you could get a shedding knot.  I have heard extremely good things about Frank Shaving brushes, however – and I do not think that this is going to be a huge problem.

All in all, these brushes are truly beautiful.  Right out of the box, I suggest rubbing the brush across your palm several times, you will see a few loose hairs pop out.  Normally, manufacturers do this as part of Quality control before they are packaged – but I’ve noticed a few extra hairs in these brushes that are loose, so maybe they are skipping this step.   Remove these before your first shave.

Hey Guys. I just wanted to say that it’s been two years and I am still using my Frank Shaving Badger and it still looks great and works great. I had one issue about a year in and that was that the knot fell out of the handle. I re-glued it with some inexpensive two part epoxy and I have had no other problems. That is the only thing that bumped off the last star on the rating. The shed is very minimal. Every once in a while if I’m very vigorous lathering a hard soap or Italian type soap (not a cream) I will get a one or two hair shed, but that is really minimal . The knot is still very full, thick and soft. It continues to be the best brush that I have owned. I would love to own a Rooney one day, but my heart is still unable to overpower my mind in this respect when I have such a great brush that I obtained at such a comparatively modest cost. I would make the purchase again. I would also give one as a very nice gift.

Purchased this brush in October of 2014, and used daily since then. Out of the box, the brush was already quite soft with good backbone and minimal scratchiness. However, as others online have noted, this brush did come with a generous heap of badger funk, but this went away after a few test lathers. Brush broke in quite easily and well, and still performs well with little to no shedding every shave (maybe a hair or two at most). Works very well on everything from shaving creams to the harder soaps on the market. Knot shows no sign of weakening and separating from the handle, and the handle itself is quite durable and shows no signs of wear, tear or cracking. Overall, a solid purchase, especially for the cost of a silvertip brush.

I broke down and purchased this a while ago. I have given it a thorough trial of at lease a month. I have to say, It is a good brush. ” Surprising quality given the cost,” I found that to be accurate. I had zero shed the first week or so. I have very minimal shed from shave to shave, maybe a single hair per shave but not every shave. I can be pretty vigorous with my lathering. The brush is soft, softer than my tweezerman was, anyway. I have never had a very fine brush before this one. The brush holds a lot of water and lathers anything quite well, even the firmer soaps. After a month, the weasel smell is almost totally gone. The knot is still intact in the handle and shows no sign of loosening. The handle is a very beautiful false ivory and is quite ornate. The handle shows no signs of discoloration or cracking. Overall the brush still looks new after more than a month of service. I think these are good brushes. If you are looking to buy your first really good brush, I’d recommend trying this one. It’s expensive, but a lot less expensive than an English brush (Parker,Kent,Rooney). Sure the English brushes are probably better, but this will let you get your feet wet without breaking your bank account.

I have been looking to purchase a nice badger brush for a while but was just looking for the right deal. I saw Maggard post on facebook that they were now carrying the frank shaving brushes. I did a little research and ordered the 26mm with the faux ivory handle. It arrived today and is a very nice brush. I was a little disappointed that it did not include a stand as is shown in some reviews online, but the brush lathers nicely and is very soft. While it was not exactly cheap, it seems to be a good choice as an entry into the arena of high quality brushes.
