Woww. Absolutely perfect. Got a BBS shave with a Merkur 34HD. Sharp, yet VERY confortable on the skin. No irritation left.
    Will by in bulk.

This might be THE ONE! In my two month search for MY blade, this may have come out on top. I think I’ll have to give this 7 O’Clock (yellow) stainless SharpEdge another comparison round with the three others I’ve liked: Astra Stainless, Crystal, and Lord Stainless. I think two passes would be enough with this blade (did a two pass + a touch-up on my neck today) where the other blades mentioned seemed to take 3-4 passes for a BBS shave. During the three shaves with this blade there have been no weepers and only a tinge of sting during the alum rub down. Next shave I’ll do only two passes and see if the touch-up is really required – think the touch-up pass is what’s causing the minor burn. Probably wouldn’t even notice a burn if I didn’t use the alum block.

In this next round of testing I’ll try to keep everything else consistent: same pre-shave oil, soap and post shave balm. I had been experimenting with soaps and creams during much of the past wo months. BTW, my #1 soap so far has been Mitchell’ s Wool Fat.

I think things were much simpler back in 1960 when the only choice I remember were Gillette Blue, or Red? 🙂

Update: After sampling a number of other blades, I’ve decided to use this only in my Parker TTO, which I rarely use these days. In that razor, this blade always gave me close, comfortable shaves with no irritation. In my Maggard MR6 however, it does not perform as well as some of the other blades I’ve sampled. It is still a good blade and a good value but I’ll primarily be using others in my MR6.

Still my main go-to blade. Always gave me a reliably sharp and smooth shave in my Parker TTO. I shave mostly with a Maggard razor now (v3 head) and while this doesn’t seem quite as sharp in the Maggard, it is still smooth and irritation free. I still highly recommend it.

My experience with these blades has been strange, to say the least. The first couple of shaves were the roughest, then I was able to get 6-8 good shaves per blade afterwards. I am super-frugal, and try to get 10 shaves from each blade, rotating through each edge twice then using two edges for the last two shaves. For me, these blades get better over time, which is not the norm for other blades I’ve used. Overall, they weren’t bad, just not my favorite. But give them a try, and make your own conclusions.

Blades are subjective, so don’t take anyone else’s opinion on the right blade for YOUR face.

With that being said- this is a very sharp, very smooth blade and pairs up perfectly with a mild razor. A Fat Handle Tech and a Gillette Sharp Edge is a fantastic combo and my daily driver for super close, comfortable shave nirvana.

Just bought 100 of these. I really enjoy them and get my requisite 2 shaves from them.

I’m going through a blade rotation right now. With 3 days growth, I noticed these tugging a bit on my whiskers. Overall, they just didn’t seem to get as close without going over spots several times. I can tell these aren’t the blades for me, but everybody’s face is different.

Best blade I’ve used. Smooth, close and long lasting.

My face found these blades irritating in my Merkur Slant Bar. Very sharp. Very very close shave, though. Made my face feel incredibly smooth, but it felt like the blade was trying to remodel my face. I got a lot of irritation and my soap and aftershave burned badly. Not a good blade for me, but obviously a good blade for others. Don’t be discouraged from trying it.

I do not recomend these blades. The first multipass shave was incredible with these blades and they were extremely smooth. But that ended with the 2nd multipass shave. The sharpness was toned down which I didn’t mind at all, but they were not smooth and they also left alot of hair and stubble behind after only 2 multipass shaves. So these will not be going in my rotation.

I have tried Derby, Astra, Persona, and these. It is sharp and gives a irritation free shave.
    Great value for the money

Great blade right here, another in my top 3. While not as sharp as some, it provides me with a pull and irritation free shave. Great value and very hard to beat.

Excellent combination of sharpness, smoothness and longevity for me. These are only a little less sharp than the Feathers, but much smoother and more forgiving on my coarse beard.

These qualities combined with great value make these almost unbeatable for me!

The Gillette 7 O’Clock Sharp Edge (Yellow, Russia) was the second DE blade I ever tried and, after 2.5 years as a DE shaver, it’s still the best. These blades are extremely sharp and have no problem reducing thick growth quickly. They’re not quite Feather sharp, but they’re surely near the top end of the spectrum. What amazes me is how the sharpness is balanced with extreme smoothness. These blades cause minimal irritation regardless of being extremely sharp. They also last upwards of 4-5 shaves for me, while most blades only last 3.

The balance of sharpness, smoothness, and longevity make these an excellent every-day blade. Even through 2.5 years of sampling countless other blades, the Gillette 7 O’Clock Sharp Edge continues to be the one I return to for a reliably smooth and clean shave day after day.
