Product Description

Alcohol-based aftershave is finally here! I aimed to create the least-drying alcohol formula possible while still retaining some of the alcohol burn. The burn is quickly soothed by witch hazel, aloe, my signature botanical blend, and light menthol. I also added a few extra skin-conditioning ingredients to keep your skin looking and feeling great all day – without excessive drying. Please shake very well before use.

Trismegistus follows in the footsteps of the legendary perfumers at Hermes. Featuring top notes of grapefruit and orange, accented by heart notes of flint, pink peppercorn, geranium, and supported by base notes of benzoin, vetiver, and cedar, this is a scent that’s masculine, mellow, and perfect for any situation. Between the scent, slickness, and post-shave, you’ll understand why we named it “thrice great.”

Take this review with the following considerations:

I was exploring whether I liked menthol (which I now realize I don’t).
I absolutely love the soap and balm of Trismegistus, at the moment above every other soap and balm I own.

So, does this stuff work? Yes, definitely. I personally find that menthol leaves my skin feeling less smooth than non-menthol. But my only true, objective-ish gripe with this stuff is the scent: it’s very far from the soap and balm. Maybe this is the case for all menthol splashes, I don’t know, but this one has a very, very strong medicated smell that overpowers the Trismegistus itself. I bought this splash because I wanted the Trismegistus to last and smell it throughout the day, not for the possibility it would out-perform other splashes (e.g. Stirling).

I’ll likely be buying Stirling’s unscented AS splash and using Trismegistus balm. I would love to see a non-mentholated version of this stuff in the future.
