Product Description

Trismegistus follows in the footsteps of the legendary perfumers at Hermes. Featuring top notes of grapefruit and orange, accented by heart notes of flint, pink peppercorn, geranium, and supported by base notes of benzoin, vetiver, and cedar, this is a scent that’s masculine, mellow, and perfect for any situation. Between the scent, slickness, and post-shave, you’ll understand why we named it “thrice great.”

Wow, this is now my favorite soap. I had tried a sample of Sterling Arkadia and loved the scent (same as this one) but it doesn’t perform as well as DG.
This is a very soft, almost a cream, soap and produces a rich creamy and very protective lather.
Best of all it is not irritating to my skin. I have issues with some soaps, especially sandalwood and almond, etc.
So, now I’m going to have to buy the aftershave because it doesn’t go well with my usual Stetson AS…

Performance: Top notch, a touch above B&M in my opinion. And B&M is tier 1 to begin with.

Scent: My new favorite scent. As much as I love B&M, I find very few of their scents to my liking. (They pride themselves on unique scents and I believe I prefer classic, more straightforward scents, closer to their Reserve line.)

I first bought this as a sample due to Jon’s review about it smelling like a new Ferrari. Maybe it’s a self fulfilling prophecy type of thing, but I actually see the connection (having been in zero Ferraris during my lifetime). Anyway, I adore the scent. I prefer very middle of the road fragrances: masculine but not musky; not spicy; clean but not proper; not overly powdery; something that stands out because it does not stand out–not a blast of something unnatural. Trismegistus to me is a very middle of the road, natural cologne scent. It will remain in my collection permanently. The closest thing I have to compare the scent to is B&M’s Reserve Classic; except this is better.

Trismegistus is a fantastic shaving soap. It is a soft, creamy soap with a wonderful scent. It transforms very easily into a very thick, rich, face-protecting lather. Trismegistus leaves your face soft, smooth, and moisturized. The thick, rich lather prevents razor burn, nicks and shaving irritation.
Trismegistus is definitely a soap thay you’ll want to add to your rotation………….buy it!

First off, a huge shout out to Maggard Razors for my recent order of soap samples. A review on them alone is coming in the next few days. Amazing service, quality, and product.

Today’s soap shaving adventure is from L&L Grooming, Trismegistus. Don’t ask me how to pronounce that. I tried, and I failed. Interesting thing though: That’s literally the only problem with this soap. I can’t pronounce the damn name.

First, let me start of with the scent of this stuff. I can’t even begin to describe what this smells like, other than amazing. Id like to think that if I sat in a brand new Ferrari in Italy after a rich Doctor was dropped off at the airport, that this is what it would smell like. Fresh, clean, exotic, complex, and just plain wonderful. The scent stays on your skin for quite a while too. You won’t want to run an aftershave because this stuff smells so good.

The lather on this stuff is beyond easy to make, even with the trash hard city water that we have in our pipes. Less than a minute in the mixing bowl and I had peaks like mom’s meringue on a good pie. The lather is thick, non dissipating, and slick.
Yeah let’s talk about that. I’ve been searching for the ultimate slick soap. Well, today I found it. This stuff. Well THIS STUFF! Amazing. I’ve never had a soap this slick.

The lather allows for the blade to effortlessly glide through the scruff and across the skin with ease. Absolutely zero resistance between blade and scuff, or razor head and skin.

The lather also produces a wonderful close shave. Almost too close with my feather blade. I definitely will revisit this soap with a much milder blade such as a Voskhod or a Gillette Black O’clock.

Clean up was simple, with minimal white soap residue. The thick lather was hesitant to remove itself from my bowl.
The soap is moderately priced at $18 / 4oz.

Overall I can find no fault with this soap. Zero. Maybe the fact that it wasn’t given to me for free? Or that I can’t pronounce its name?
I give this soap 9.5/10. Why not 10 out of 10? That my friend is God soap. Im not sure it exists.

    – Amazing lather, thick, easy to produce
-Lather has great glide and cushion
-Scent is out of this world
-Leaves skin soft and clean feeling
-Great close shave, with little to no drag through the scruff

    -Wasn’t free
    -Can’t pronounce soap’s name
    -Can’t find any other faults

This soap certainly lives up to the hype among wet shavers and goes straight into my top 5 soaps. I had been looking forward to this scent particularly as I love Hermes Terre d’Hermès and this is the closest anyone has come to it. The lather is pure thick double cream and it’s thirsty too. Most other lathers would fall short with the the water it can hold, so hats of to L&L for that stability and the slickness it provides. It can definitely take a lot more, which would be more suited to SE and straights. Cushioning is above most of it’s peers and post shave feel is I believe, it’s best attribute (ok, maybe the scent too). I’ve tried to stick to one soap type from any manufacturer but this is one that I’ll be breaking my rule for.
It’s simple, If you think you know good soap and you haven’t used this, well you don’t!

Fantastic soap,IMHO right on par with my B&M,Stirling soaps.Post shave may top them all,and the scent is a VERY close Td’H profile.Looking forward to more from L&L!!!

It is a softer soap than I am used to. I tried face lathering for the first shave and bowl lathering for the second. For this particular soap I prefer to bowl lather a bit then finish lathering on the face. The scent and performance of the soap are excellent.
