Product Description

In 1838, the German Settlement Society of Philadelphia helped a group of immigrants establish townships along the Missouri River in an area. It came to be known as the Missouri Rhineland due to its similarity to that Central European region. This area had a rich yet rocky soil and steep, rolling hills that were very familiar to these immigrants.

As they build their modest, sturdy and sparsely decorated homes, they began growing vegetables native to their homeland, like greens, turnips and cabbage. More importantly, they began cultivating vineyards in the same manner that they did in their homelands.

To this day, the Missouri Rhineland is a place were generous hosts welcome visitors from St. Louis, Kansas City and many other areas to enjoy their rustic wineries and stunning scenery. As visitors to the Missouri Rhineland navigate the rocky terrain on a bright spring day, the sharp green smells of the vineyards, combined with the blooming flowers among trees whose buds are suddenly transforming into leaves, fills the nostrils as the combination of sunlight and the warmness of a glass of wine envelop the senses.

TSM Fougère encapsulates that smell. Originally created to be a bright take on a fougère by request of The Shave Market on Facebook.

Scent notes:

Oakmoss, incense, lavender, vetiver, neroli, tonka bean, petitgrain, nagarmotha, clary sage, cedarwood, grass, musk, bergamot, grapefruit, Spanish moss, violet, geranium, violet leaf, anise

    One of the Best.

This soap nails it on everything we look for in a top performing product. The quality of lather is the best I’ve tried. and easy to whip up.Slick and protective. No need for a balm. The post shave is superb. The scent is pleasant and long lasting. I’m very critical. I don’t leave reviews that often. I have to be extremely impressed or extremely disappointed. I felt the same way about Gratiot league.
Match this up with Chatillon Lux after shave and you will be a happy shaver.
As a point of reference and to add some credibility to my comments…..

I have L&L Grooming’s After the Rain shave soap, which I love, so I thought I’d give this scent a try. Well, color me unimpressed. The performance of this soap is fantastic like all of L&L’s soaps, so I give it 3 stars just for that, but the scent – I don’t get it. It just smells like sunflower seeds to me. I’m into fragrances, so I have a fairly well-trained nose, but all I’m getting here is the smell of a bag of sunflower seeds. I lathered it up for two shaves, and my opinion hasn’t changed. At the high price this soap is, I regret buying this one – if given the chance, I’d have rather just bought another After the Rain tub. Sorry L&L – not a fan of this scent.

L &L is my top soap based on performance. I have at least 6 different scents and all work the same… fantastic! Regarding this Fougere. I had to do some research on the scent. It’s a Frech word that means fern. It’s not really a standard scent say like sandalwood. It’s up to the soap makers interpretation.

The only thing I knew about Fougere was the MDC I have. This is totally different. I love Shawn’s (the owner of Chatillon Lux)interpretation here. He also makes a an aftershave AND EDT to go along with this. Definitely a unique scent combination and guaranteed not to smell like anyone else. I get tons of compliments.

    A++ on all levels!

This is one of the best shaving soaps I have ever used. The performance is simply as great as it gets – it actually reminds me of Barrister & Mann in terms of its performance. It has the same great slickness as B&M and is pretty ‘thirsty’ just like B&M. The cushion is great and the post-shave feeling remarkable.
I also really like that they use bison tallow for their shaving soaps. Very unique.

The scent, which is made by Chatillon Lux, is a bright, green, uplifting fougère scent. I definitely smell the violet, violet leaf, grass, anise, lavender, and incense. The scent of TSM Fougère is one of the best and most unusual scents I have ever smelled in any wet shaving product.
And the packaging is awesome as well.

To be honest, I think the price ($6.25 per oz) is justified. At least for me.

4/5 (the label is not completely waterproof)
