Product Description

London Barbershop  is a mix of bergamot, basil leaf, oakmoss, and white patchouli.  It is one of our best selling soaps in our store!

Our soaps now ship in high quality thick-walled PETG jars, 100mm diameter (approx 4″), and are a slim 1.5″ tall with lid .   The jars are made in the USA!

Our soaps are made through the hot process.  Their consistency is a soft soap, similar to an Italian soft soap.   The jar opening is nice and big for all sorts of brushes, big and small.

Our soap is made by Maria Arman, a soap maker and potter from Michigan.  Check out her website at

This is a very good soap and I would give it 5 stars but for the following:

    1. This appears to be the same as Lather and Wood Barbershop shave soap.
    2. This appears to be the same as Zingari Man The Wanderer.

Great scent, great balm, great soap, but all the same. I now have three soaps and balms that are the same… 🙁

Take care here and only order one.

Fantastic!! My favorite of all the Maggard soaps that I have tried. Even my wife likes it!!

Just tried this soap for the first time today. A well scented soap is very important to me and I was disappointed in this product. It was like it was unscented. The only good thing I have to say about it is that it lathers well. I will not be using it again.

IMHO this is how a barbershop scent should be. Cool, refreshing and clean scent. Lathers very well and provides smooth protection. Tried the sample and planning to order the soap.

Great barbershop scent. I find myself constantly reaching for this soap. Very refreshing and clean scent especially when you follow it up with the aftershave. This soap lathers very well.

I got the sample size with my Maggard Razor starter kit. I immediately loved the scent. I ended up buying another tub when I ran out. Out of all the soaps I own this one is my favorite. Excellent lather every shave even with my hard water.

If I were to write a book it would be about this soap; my first soap.

I bought the tub without sampling first and was plesently suprised by the nice, clean scent that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Lathers well on the face too. Want to dive in headfirst into artisan soaps but feel overwhelmed? This is the perfect place to start.

This is my first Maggard soap but will not be the last. This Barbershop scent is the best of all I have tried. Easy thick lather and slickness is very good. If you buy this soap don’t forget the matching aftershave. This set is in the top tier of my den!

This soap is high quality, it’s thick and slick and offers great protection. However the scent leaves a lot to be desired, it’s closer to a dryer sheet or urinal cake than a barbershop. Because of the quality I would have no qualms about recommending this soap, just try a different scent.

While I still use TOBS occasionally I have found that all of the Maggard soaps consistently give me a closer shave. They lather easily and provide excellent slickness. London barbershop, mango sage tea, and northern moss are all great scents

One of the nicest barbershop scents I own. Good lather even with hard water. The scent is not too strong, definitely just right. All of the Maggard soaps I have tried are great. A must try.

I have ordered this soap because of so many positive reviews here. It was a bit of dissapointment when I opened the jar. The scent reminded me a Dove soap or H&S shampoo. I was really upset. But the following day I changed my mind about it. And I do not know why but the scent seems OK now. The soap itself is superb. Next time I will order my favorite scent – Limes & Bergamot. From Russia with love.

The scent really doesn’t work for me, and that makes it hard to be impartial. I am surprised it’s is marketed as one of the favourites. This is not a masculine scent, nor does it smell anything like any barbershop scent I am familiar with. It’s sort of sickly sweet and more of a strange and not attractive flower scent. I’d say more funeral home. I don’t really get any of the bergamot. Bergamot is a scent I like and one I expected. I may find just a touch of the basil, but it’s drowned out in some other overpowering perfume a bit like asiatic lily but worse and without the base notes that a lily scent has. My wife also doesn’t care for it either, but she agreed to use the rest as I won’t.

The soap is soft and easy enough to lather. In that sense I suppose it’s accessible. I found the lather a bit dry and unremarkable. I never really got it to a place that made it stand out for being warm, thick, or slick. Nowhere near as good as TOBS cedarwood or avocado. If I’d liked the scent it’d be a star higher but no more than that.

I own many Barbershop soaps. This one has the best scent: clean, fresh and masculine.

    Scent strength 8/10.

Very good performance and skin care. 8/10.

The best containers on the market 10/10.

BTW: This is a very soft soap

I have tried atleast 20 different soaps and this is by far the best the scent is just rite and the lather is what sets it apart from other more expensive soaps i have tried

***** Duft: TOLL, Faszinierend und Frisch
    ***** Schaumverhalten: *Hervorragend

A really good shaving soap, but in my opinion it’s a bit more like a cream then like a soap.
Though the scent and the performance of “London Barbershop” is really good.

The scent is classic and clean, i really like it. But the most important thing is the performance. You get a really good lather without any problems, easy going. And after the shave my skin feels smooth, relaxed and refreshed. The first time ever I’ve had the impression, that it’s not necessary to use an aftershave or balm. Good Job 🙂

First soap of this type I have tried (normally name brand cream out of a spray can) and I must say this soap is awesome! Creamy lather, lasting film, and a great smell.

Luxury shave soap, fast shipping, fair price, no hype. Maggard over performs again.

I had to wait on this to be back in stock as I understand that this is one of Maggard’s top sellers. I agree with most everything azircon wrote with the exception that I feel the scent strength (very classic barbershop) is stronger than medium. Very easy to load the brush and excellent for face lathering. Can tell right now that this soap alone could last me all winter.

This was my second time purchase of London Barbershop with the new formula and packaging.
The new packing is now considered my favourite amongst all artisan soaps, quite refined, beautifully designed and perfect for loading with a large brush
    As for the new formula:
    – Scent is more pronounced (a favourite amongst barbershop scents)
    – The soap texture is quite different (more on the softer side as opposed to the previous formula) and in a certain wy is much easier to load the brush, just needs some getting used to.
    – Performance is improved and would rate 8 out of 10
Was excited about the release of the after shave

London Barbershop is a very good soap. It is soft cream, similar in consistency like the english creams, TOBS or St. James of London. The packaging is good. Lather and performance is excellent 9/10. Very easy to lather and good residual slickness. The consistency may be slightly less than tallow based soap but adequate. Like all good artisan soaps the difference is always with the scent strength and profile. Scent strength is 5/10, so about medium out of the tub. Since it is very soft cream, no blooming is necessary. Scent profile is geranium mostly which is consistent with barbershop, but staying power is fairly limited. Overall a good performer.
