I first purchased this razor a long time ago in a starter kit. It performed admirably and was a good choice for a beginner to wet shaving. A friend of mine went through a hard financial time, and I gave her my razor to save her some money.

Then I needed a replacement, and Maggard had just sold out or discontinued this razor for a time. So, I bought another model with the V3 head. It has worked well for me, but I REALLY loved the multicolored metal, and when Maggard brought them back, I jumped at the chance to own one again and bought two (just in case I wanted to gift one to a friend again).

Disappointment set in fast when I noticed that the head on one side had considerably more blade exposure than the other. I held it up to the light and both through top and bottom I could see the gap between the top and bottom plates were uneven. I shaved with it to see if it mattered, and it was uncomfortable on both sides! How can I ever give this as a gift when I won’t use it myself?

The heads are useless to me now, but I guess I’ll pair the handles to my present V3 head.

This razor is awesome! The colors are super cool and it is very comfortable to use.

This is my second mr18c. My first was stolen. This one looks nicer overall but it’s missing the maggard logo on the bottom end of the handle. Feels incomplete without the logo.

I’ve had this razor for a while, and it is nothing short of amazing. I use an old toothbrush to clean my razors, and the finish hasn’t shown the slightest signs of fading or flaking off. It still looks as good now as the day it was delivered to me by a choir of angels. And not the chubby baby angels, but the terrifying Old Testament angels, where they were interlocked spinning wheels covered in unblinking eyes.

The razor is a three-piece razor, which makes cleaning a breeze. There is no worry about some hidden nook collecting your gross leftover lather and slowly breeding god-knows-what, you can easily get into everything with whatever you clean your razors with. The construction is stainless steel like all Maggard razors, so if you drop it your sink will get chipped rather than your razor getting dented. Except you WON’T drop it, because the knurling is incredibly aggressive. In the few years I have had this razor, even with wet soapy hands, I have never lost control of this razor once. Its shave is quite mild, so a Feather and this head is a match made in paradise. Stainless steel razors look great to begin with, but this anodizing just takes this to a whole other level. There isn’t another company that sells a razor that looks this good right out of the box.

I know that Maggard makes a big deal about “our razors are budget-friendly, so don’t expect perfection blah blah blah,” but it’s really hard to hurt marine-grade stainless steel. I have a couple of Maggard razors and every one looks about as close to flawless as can be found in the earthly realm (plate of crispy bacon notwithstanding). Make no mistake: in terms of looks and performance, this razor is flawless. FLAWLESS. And Maggard’s amazing customer service makes sure that if it isn’t flawless, they will dispatch a battle-hardened Maggard ninja assassin from their secret temple in Ann Arbo who will break into your house, replace your offending item with a perfect replacement, and then ritually assassinate the factory worker who allowed such a travesty to occur. Seriously. I know a guy who knows a guy, and it totally happened to him.
