    :

Very mild head with no alignment issues. Used it with a Voskhod blade for a comfortable two pass shave. Had a bit of a weeper but it was my fault using a bit of pressure. Overall good buy.

If you like it milder, this is your Head. Being in my mid 50’s, I’ve been thru countless razors. I’ve always gravitated towards milder heads from vintage to modern. Being recently Retired, I do not shave as often. I have not bought a new razor in years, and my dailey is my trusted jagger de89 & astra sp combo. I wanted something a little more aggressive, and thought for under 10 bucks, what do I have to lose? On a suggestion from a friend, I went with a gillette nacet blade in this head. Put this atop a Maggard MR11 blue anodized steel handle on sale for $ 9.99. For under 20 dead presidents, I now have a razor for everyday use, or a razor for every 3-4 day use. I love this razor!!! I have sensitive skin, and a lighter growth and this is now my only razor I grab. A smooth shave, no weepers, no irritation. I imagine putting in a Feather blade for those with thick stubble, this would be a great razor for the money. The blade alignment is not as care free as some of my other razors, but a few seconds of extra work fixes that. $8.95 for a decent shave that will last for years if you treat the head well…..a no brainer in my book!!

    :

This head is very nice and smooth, however when comparing it to my Edwin Jagger DE89 the blade is a little more exposed resulting in a more aggressive shave. I was able to do just one pass with a Gillette Nacet and a quick clean up. Tread carefully when using a sharp blade in this head cause it is a little more aggressive. Great job Maggard!

    :

Fine shaver. Efficient. Comfortable. Reasonably priced. I have had to play with the blade a little to get a decent alignment, but it doesn’t take a ton of effort. At this price point, minor issues that are easily corrected are expected. Worth a moment to align properly when the resulting shave is satisfying.

tldr; The V3 is a great shaver and is super forgiving. The gray finish is super nice. I haven’t experienced any alignment issues, and firmly believe this is absolutely the best bang for your buck, if you’re new or experienced.

This is my first safety razor, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it!
I just recently got into wet shaving, and I got all set up through Maggard. Got my Maggard brush, Maggard Lilac soap (fantastic), V3 head, MR11 handle, and Voskhod blades, alum block, and aftershave all from Maggard. I watched plenty of youtubers and studied up on my technique so that I would be ready. Light pressure, multiple passes, and deliberate grain direction. I put all my old cartridge habits and kicked them aside. Once I got my gear and set up for my first post-shower wet shave… It did not go so well…

My facial hair is a lot thicker than I gave it credit for, and I experienced a ton of tugging and waked away with 10 sub-par to poor shaves. It was tough to gauge what the issue was since I’m brand new to wet shaving, but I felt like my light touch and technique wasn’t poor enough to warrant such rough shaves. I was super worried that the V3 might be the culprit, but the reviews of my blades, on Maggard’s website, showed that Voskhod might not have been the best blades for me. So, I held off on any reviews and got set up with some Feathers (with the plan to move down in sharpness until I hit a sweet spot).

Feather blades came in, and I gave myself a quick two pass shave without a shower. Unbelievable results! Especially since I had 5 days of growth too. My technique isn’t perfect, and I’m still new to wet shaving, but the V3 and Feather gave me a ridiculously smooth and almost irritation free shave (I had one tiny weeper on my upper lip, but I blame myself for shaving so quickly) with just a fast WTG and ATG pass.

I give a lot of credit to the V3 to save me from my mistakes and let me walk away with a near BBS shave. Very easy to control and super forgiving angles. I have no doubt that a shower and three deliberate passes would give me a full BBS shave. Hell, I could probably do it in two with how close this combo cuts. I’m now anxiously waiting for some Kai blades to compare with the Feathers. Hopefully I’ll have a daily driver between the Kai or Feather!

This head must have magic built in since every blade I use with it gives me a s-m-o-o-t-h shave no nicks or scrapes…ever! I’ve noted that no other razor head has the unusual “dip” in the thread area of the underside of the head. That odd geometry seems to impart the magic to this head. Buy one….you won’t regret it.

    :

This is a very good safety razor head. I find it to be a little bit more efficient than the Merkur 34C, yet at least as comfortable. It gives a baby smooth shave after three passes. I found that it worked well with a number of blades, but sharper blades tended to work a little better. This is a great deal of razor for the money. With this head up for purchase, buying the more expensive variants of the Edwin Jagger/Merkur flat base plate design becomes a pretty questionable investment. The finish is good, and the fit of the parts is just as even as you could hope. Nice Job, Maggard. This is my second favorite of the heads offered in this line.

These heads are really good a big step up from the stock head that came with my razor.

Man what an amazing shave, it’s the closest shave I have ever had. I could have gotten away with two passes and a touch-up. The V3 head has quite a loud feedback, the correct angle was so easy to find, and getting under my nose was no issue at all, no nose bending or contortion required. It also tames the notoriously sharp Feather blades.

For me, one side is slightly milder than the other but I really really like that, I can shave the tender spots on my neck with zero irritation, even with a Feather loaded.

Well done to the design team great job.
