Well, I guess I am the lame duck here! I used this oil three times so far, and in all those times used, it has not given me a good feel when shaving. The first thing I notice is the slight scent of motor oil – most likely that’s the olive oil permeating, but to me it’s ala motor. It’s not a deal breaker, but it just doesn’t give me a good start. Second this oil is very thick. I have tried several oils and this has to be the thickest I used. It goes on fine and feels like it’s going to give me lots of protection, but during and after my first pass, my skin seems to be arid dry and my razor is actually pulling my skin! I do a three pass shave, so it’s pretty much my cream afterward that provides any glide. I feel little to no glide as I have with other oils. I’ll keep using this until it’s finished, but won’t be buying this one again. Being new to wet shave (3 months now) I am always looking and willing to try new products. I have a few others I have purchased from here and will review them as well. Sorry, but this oil didn’t do it for me.

Maggard pre shave oils are top notch, and as you can already see, the price point is ridiculous. I already use their cherry sandalwood vanilla scent, but figured I would also have an unscented on hand too. Like another reviewer. I also added some tea tree oil to it. Works wonders in enhancing the shave experience. Thanks Maggard’s! You guys rock!

Excellent Pre-Shave. Since using it on my neck the aftershave burns alot less (almost nothing!) and the Vitamin E is great to keep my skin soft.

The big plus: It’s AFFORDABLE. Thanks Maggard!

Not much to be said that hasn’t already been mentioned by previous reviews, the oil is simple and very effective. The unscented option allows me to use this with any soap / cream combo. The oil is smooth and natural feeling. This has improved my shave by giving me that extra protection that I won’t go without now that I’ve tried it.

This oil is great! Perfect protection from the blade and hydrates the skin without the oil feeling, it feels natural. The unscented is perfect, I added a few drops of tea tree oil and it is great. Awesome products and great customer service. (Note: if you decide to make a tea tree scent it should be named after me….LOL)

This is a simple, effective, to the point product. Because it is unscented, I can use it with virtually any of my scented shaving creams without having to worry about it effecting the scent. And it provides a nice smooth coating on my whiskers that helps the blade glide across with no tugging whatsoever. Definitely recommended for those who are not looking for a scented pre-shave oil

Maggard has found a great balance of viscosity and protection with their blend of almond, avocado, and other oils. The oil spreads easily on the face. It doesn’t feel sticky or heavy in the hand or on the face.

Although the oils themselves are unscented, they do carry a natural scent, which becomes apparent when it’s rubbed in warm hands and applied to a warm face. Although olive oil the most notable, it was subdued by the avocado and almond oil, making it slightly sweeter. The smell was not strong and I didn’t notice it when I started shaving.

I got plenty of glide and protection; I got more protection than I thought I would, actually. I had enough to do a little buffing on a spot that grows at a particularly weird angle. I had no skips or stutters on any of my three passes or cleanup.

It’s a couple of hours later and I’ve got no irritation, burn, or other angry spots. My skin feels moist and healthy and happy.

When I kissed the wife goodbye this morning (the true test), she rubbed her face against mine and gave a nice sigh that meant “Oh, I’m not going to wake up completely, but this is wonderful”, meaning that the shave was smooth in all directions.

Good stuff. If you want a nice oil that doesn’t cost an arm or a leg, but you don’t want to buy something from the oil section at your grocer, this stuff is great.

Maggard oil is especially great if you’re looking for something without mass-produced chemicals and/or extenders, as it’s almond oil, avocado oil, olive oil, castor oil, grape seed oil, and vitamin E. That’s it. Most the other oils I have contain at least a small amount of other stuff.
