Merkur 34C is the razor teacher. It is just a bit aggressive so you have to learn, but not so aggressive to hack your face to pieces. The short handle helps you manipulate the head easily and makes it top heavy,so you don’t have to apply pressure at all.The handle texture gives you perfect grip, even with the slickest lather.A top seller with a good reason.

Excellent razor for new wet shavers. Good learning razor. Gives a great close shave, and very forgiving.

I have had the Merkur 34C for almost 2 years and all I can say is wow, what a great razor. The handle is very easy to learn/use and it’s the perfect length (not too long, not too short). It accepts any DE Safety blade that I have tried (6+ brands and counting) and it’s easy to clean & disassemble. I chose the 34C way back when after a lot of research/reading reviews, and I highly recommend this razor for any man from DE blade beginners (like I was 2 years ago) all the way to every day shaving experts. Replacement blades are also way cheaper than what is sold at the grocery store.

This razor provides an easy, comfortable shave, and works well with a variety of blades. If you are considering this razor, note that it is a 2-piece design, fairly unusual in DE razors. Some users find it slightly easier to change blades with the 2-piece design (vs. 3-piece). It can be slightly more difficult to clean thoroughly than a 3-piece razor. And the 2-piece design means that you cannot mix-and-match handle and razor head, as you can with a 3-piece. The handle is hollow to accommodate the 2-piece design, but the weight is still good, comparable to or heavier than many. The finish is not quite as perfect as the Edwin Jagger DE89, but still quite good. If you don’t want to spend $40-50 for a razor, you should probably consider the Maggard razors, which are about half that price. The Maggard line of DE razors keeps growing and improving, with a large number of handle and head choices (open comb and two kinds of closed comb), so you can almost “design your own razor” to your personal preferences. Maggard’s service is outstanding, and they have a large selection of wet shaving products, one-stop shopping for all your shaving needs.

Shave Busta is right! This is a great razor! I gave it a four star rating because I think the chrome could be much better. That is literally my only complaint though. It feels very natural in my hands and is so easy to use. This razor has helped turn the chore of shaving into a fun and relaxing hobby. I will be recommending this razor to friends and family.

I’m putting in my order tonight just as soon as the wife brings home the credit card…the reviews helped a lot..leaning toward the Edwin Jagger 89.. But your reviews changed my mind…EJ can wait till,Christmas…

This is a great razor if your a beginner, it can go from mild to semi agressive depending on your blade choice. The weight is great, the handle is a bit short if you have larger hands, go for the 38C.

I started wet shaving back in December.I switched to the 34C about three months ago because my first razor was just to aggressive. No matter what blades I used my neck was very irritated . The 34C has been very easy to use and I have tried many different blades in it. Some worked better than others ,but, the main thing is I have had very little irritation with all the blades I’ve tried. The 34C paired with Personna blue blades works very well for me.Three passes and I’m done, no clean up needed and very little razor burn. I would recommend the 34C to anyone starting out in wet shaving. Great razor. I also have to add that Maggards is great place for al your shavings needs . Lots to chose from and the service is fast and friendly.

I have other razors in the rotation, but I always look forward to the Merkur. It has become my baseline razor unto which all others are rated. The size, weight, and balance are perfect for me. It is a comfortable razor. It is gentle to the face and it provides a really good shave every time. My Go-To razor….

First DE razor. I love the feel of this razor. I’ve tried with several blades, the gillette 7 o’clock being my favorite so far. The razor had a great weight and performance is great. The weight is just right for a great shave. Quality is superb and the thing looks amazing. I am very pleased with this razor.

I’m new to the safety razor and decided to drop mu Mach 5 cartridge for a better shave. I’m glad that I did! I saw the reviews from NickShaves and Busta on YouTube and went for it. The handling is super easy and I found the weight of the razor does all the work. Great value for the quality considering this razor will last years and years.

The Merkur 34c HD is a closed comb razor 2 piece design. It provides a close mild non-aggressive shave. Be careful taking apart the handle it can be difficult putting it back together. It’s a good choice for those new to DE safety razors. The price of the razor is reasonable for the quality it delivers. It’s one of my favorite go to razors.

I finally got rid of my three blade brand razor and made the change to a safety razor. Many online reviews suggest this razor as one for newbies so I got it. So far this razor has performed flawlessly and I am very happy with my purchase. Maybe I will eventually try some different makes/models of razors once my technique and style of shaving has been established but for now this razor is doing a great job. I am using Feather blades with this razor which seems to be working well. Overall a quality product and I have zero complaints. If you have big hands you may want to get a razor with a longer handle though.

Merkur 34c HD – this is my first safety razor. I liked it the first time. it is very balanced, heavy enough so use it conveniently. I learned to shave again safety razor with him and quickly learned to get the BBS and pleasure. I have a few razors, but I often take in hands the Merkur34hd!! the best choice for a beginner. I recommend. Excuse me for my English. I just wanted to help the my wetshaving brothers 😉

I’m new to wetshaving and I’ve been using the 34C for the past 4 months. I love it and I think it’s a great razor to learn on. It’s a well made razor and doesn’t take long to master. If you’re not willing to spend this kind of money on a starter razor, check out the Maggard brand razors, I haven’t used one myself but I hear they’re an excellent value.
