    Fantastic razor SE.

I got one of the originals and now have the batch 3. Without question the finest material, workmanship and quality shave you will find. I use the Kai Pink Mild blades and the shave is without question the smoothest irritation free shave of any of my DE & SE. There is a learning curve to determine the right angle to hold this. To bad they haven’t been able to ramp up production.

Best razor head made. I was lucky and bought mine on ebay for 100 bucks but if I were to lose it I would pay full price to replace it for sure.

I’ve waited for around 3 months before reviewing this razor so as to give it a proper write-up.

This is my first single edge safety razor and prior to that I’ve been using an IKon OSS DE razor. I was a little apprehensive to start with so I used a Feather Proguard blade. What a first shave, the Mongoose felt fantastic in the hand, way heavier than my iKon but far more comfortable to hold. Because of the weight I mearly needed to guide the razor around my face. 2 passes and I was done and I had a baby smooth finish with no cuts or weepers.

I didn’t think a shave could get any better until I tried a feather professional blade, how wrong could I be……… Soooooo much better than my iKon which is now confined to the bathroom cupboard.

The Mongoose is now my go to razor complete with the Feather professional blades, for reference i used the razor with a Fitjar shaving cream.

In summary, the Mongoose is simply the best razor I have ever used (and I’ve tried a few). It is a really solid and beautifully finished piece of kit which I’m sure will outlast me……..

A note on Maggard Razors too, I live in England and had the razor shipped across. There was a slight delay with the delivery which was nothing to do with Maggard but they were incredibly helpful whilst I was trying to sort the delivery out and I would have no hesitation in buying from them again, and I probably will as you have creams and soaps that we can’t get here in th UK.

Amazing razor and a great company…….

    :

A bit pricey, but the Mongoose II head is the best shaving SE head of the three that I own, and it’s definitely superior to every DE in my inventory. I’m only two shaves into it using a Kai Titan Mild, but the performance is top shelf. I bought just the head, and it pairs well with my MR5 handle.

I received my Mongoose Razor last week and have used it for 3 shaves so far with a Kai Titan Mild blade and what a great shave this razor gives. A 3 pass shave and I get BBS. Would highly recommend this Razor.

I received at last today the Mongoose with edges! I unpacked and at once in a bathroom. The bristle was 3-day. Soap the Kraken from ML. I prepared two edges for a zatest at once: Kai and Fizer. I wound the head of the Mongoose on the IKON OSS handle at once. The first feeling from the Mongoose of course inexpressible!! My God what it is healthy!!!)))) Half of the face Kai shaved Fizer, the second. Feelings from shaving magnificent! Both edges purely and smoothly shave!!! Cuts and points (bloody) weren’t. Any bristle it isn’t missed! It was shaved in 2 passes + small dobrivka on a neck. After shaving by the Mongoose I can’t even explain what it was)))) There was no skin skableniye, as with R41. Shaving was much more qualitative, than with Fatip and R89. And precisely I understood one for myself – shaving turned out some fast, smooth and extremely comfortable, perhaps what only I had the most comfortable.

It gets a 5 star for quality and craftsmen ship.
I gave it a 3 star only because it is two aggressive for me. I did get an assortment of blades to try some were less aggressive then others but always seem to walk away bleeding. I gave it a couple of weeks to make sure it wasn’t me and get over the learning curve of a SE. I am going back to my DE collection. You may like it like better then me like all of the reviews above. You will not know if it is good for you unless you try it.

I think it’s one of the best razor. Craftsmanship is fantastic and performance is really amazing.Till now I’has only used DE and this is my first SE but I’m very satisfied. I think every wet shaver need one!

    :

This is one of the best razors currently available in the world, and I say this as someone partial to cutthroats. The quality is at least as good as other North American-made razors (Above the Tie and Bluebird) and almost on par with the Canadian Wolfman–though of course those are all double edge. As is the German PILS 101, though it takes a long time to get used to its shaving angle. The angle of the single-edge Mongoose is really intuitive and immediate, and gives a better shave. There’s no reason why a beginning wet-shaver shaver moving away from all the plastic multii-blade nonsense can’t use this razor: just don’t apply pressure, use a slick soap, and let the perfect balance of the Mongoose do its three-pass work. As for blades in this razor, I find the Kai line better for me than the Feather, though that’s obviously subjective. Objectively, the Mongoose is about as good as it gets.

I bought two of them last month, one for myself and one for my retired brother who can’t afford it. We both get near BBS shaves in two passes with touch-up, and little or no irritation. This is the best razor either of us has ever owned and I personally have about 10 straight razors, the same number of DE and about six SE razors. It was worth waiting for more than a year; I’m lucky to have gotten here at the right time when I was looking for another type of product entirely! If you want one, it is worthwhile to return to this site often! (Besides, they have lots of other great stuff to satisfy your acquisition disorders.)

Well, I have to continue the theme of five star reviews. Been wanting to try one of these razors for a while now, and was pretty excited to see that Maggard’s is now a Mongoose dealer. My first DE razor was purchased about twenty years ago, and up until the last year or so I have always had marginal performance with any brand/blade/soap combo I would try. some were slightly better than others, but nothing significant. Then the Razorock Stealth came out, and I started to get really great shaves, then the Baby Smooth, and I thought the shave couldn’t be beat. Then the Black Mamba, and I was lucky enough to get my hands on one right out of the gate. The Black Mamba has by far been the best shave experience I have ever had, until now. The Mongoose is really a dream razor. The craftsmanship, materials, finish, and design are all just awesome. I knew I was taking a chance on trying this razor due to my sensitive skin, and irritation issues I have always battled. Laser hair removal didn’t even work for me. The worst case scenario was to try this out, and I could always sell it if I had to. I will not be selling it. In fact, I’m not sure how much use the Black Mamba will be getting from here on out. I use the Mongoose with Kai Captain blades, and mostly artisan soaps, and get the best shaves of my life by a mile. BBS is easily achieved with this razor, and no irritation to speak of. People always seem to focus on the width of the blade on this razor, but I find that it is the geometry of the angle and weight, etc. that makes this such a performer. I’m definitely going to try to get an Alumigoose when they are in stock, as Mongoose might have just taken over as my daily driver. Really outstanding. This really reminds me of a straight razor type shave, but without the need for stropping, honing, etc. The handle did get slightly slippery when some soap dropped off the razor head, but nothing that would make you drop it or anything, just a quick rinse and back to grippy. I will be recommending this razor to everyone. Get one while you can.

One of the smoothest razors I own. It’s the only razor I’ve been able to shave ATG on my neck with for a BBS & I own 100 plus razors. I personally get the best results from Feather professional blades.

Glad I picked one of these up from Maggards while they still had them! Deffinitly a Must have for evceryone, The collector or the User.
Its more aggressive than I thought it would be so its Great for when I have longer growth on my face. But a smooth shave for sure.

The mongoose is a work of art. Awesome craftsmanship. I have been shaving with an R41 and R89 for a bit over a year and was a little apprehensive to spend the money to try a single edge, but would say without a doubt, it is worth it to me. The smoothest shave against the grain I have ever had. A big shout out to Maggards on the top shelf service too. Ordered the mongoose and some blades to try on Saturday and already received my package on Monday. Superb service. Thanks again to Brad, Casie and their crew.

One of the best razor available. Craftsmanship is stellar. Performance is almost a game changer .. I like variety, so I won’t give up my toys. But I could be perfectly content with this as my one and only. An amazing razor! I can BBS with ease with this beauty.

There are few razors in my rotation I would consider, “must haves.” The mongoose is definitely one of them. It is weighted extremely well so that you just let the weight of the razor do all of the work while maintaining consistent balance. It is wider than a traditional safety razor so my shaves are also a little faster than with my DE. I would recommend picking up a single edge razor sample pack to see which ones will work for you so you can really have the best results. Either way, the Mongoose is surprisingly forgiving and is currently the #1 razor in my rotation.
