Replacement part for Muhle R41 (2013) Series razors
Maciej – November 5, 2019:
Bought this to replace my Maggard OC that I kept in the shower, which sadly got damaged in a fall and started giving me horrible cuts. R41 is an outstanding product, especially for body shaving. I assume mine is revision 2, as I bought it in 2019, and it really isn’t that aggressive. I find it way easier to manage than Maggard’s own “mild” head, thanks to the fact the R41 barely has any blade gap, and very minimal blade exposure. It’s all in the angle and bar geometry (it comes with the “scalloped” bar, ie. a cross between open comb and solid), and it truly strikes the perfect balance for both efficient removal and easy management of the cut hair. In other words, no matter how much and how bushy the growth, it will not only remove it all with a single pass, it will keep it out of the shaved area, all while causing minimal to no irritation. It’s this pain-free clogging resistance that makes it an absolute winner for use in the shower. It’s also an excellent head for face shaving (I even chanced a shave two days in a row, which my skin generally doesn’t take kindly to, and it was perfectly fine), but for me, it stays permanently in the shower, paired with the Maggard MR9 handle.

Did Maggard Razors send me the wrong item? Nope! This has to be the best razor head (R41 2013) on the market. I wish I had bought one 2 1/2 to 3 years ago. A fantastic two pass miracle. This is so good that I wish my beard grew faster. Don’t be fooled by the word “aggressive”, this is a very smooth razor (nearly perfect). Do yourself a favor and purchase one while their in stock. Top quality product and outstanding customer service. Very Pleased!

I recently purchased the Muhle R41 head from Maggard Razors along with the Maggard MR11 handle. I used this razor today for the first time and WOW, what a fantastic shave. I am so happy that I own this razor. I received no cuts or irritation whatsoever. Just used a very light touch and it was incredible. The fit and finish of both the Muhle head and the Maggard handle are superior. I would highly recommend this combination to anyone wanting to try the R41. Thanks Maggard for offering this and for your fast shipping. I received this razor in just two days. So far this is my favorite razor. Be blessed!!!

I use the R41 head on a vintage Feather handle with Perma Sharps or Rapira blades. My industrial beard requires a more aggressive set up and I believe I’ve found a winner. It works so well for me, all my other razors sit unused at this point! My favorite by far!

The head is on the heavy side, so works best with a weighty handle. Aggressive to be sure, and requires one pay attention to the task at hand. Not a good choice for a newbie, ideal for a shaver’s third razor. If you cannot recall the last time you nicked yourself, this is your instrument. Great value.

Wow! I am truly impressed with the quality of this shaving head. I started wet shaving 3 years ago after being constantly dissatisfied with disposable razors and the price of cartridges seemed ridiculous. I did my research and started with a standard DE razor, a Muhle R89, based on the great reviews. I quickly fell in love with the shave quality, especially the difference my skin felt and have not been back. On year two of wet shaving I wanted to move forward with my shave quality and purchased a straight razor. After many weeks of trial and errors I could not figure it out to my liking. My skin was red and irritated, so much that I had to stop shaving for a few days in between shaves to heal. It was probably my technique and not the straight razor, however, it still left me wanting a closer shave with less passes. I did some additional research and found the Muhle R41. This is labeled as an aggressive razor and “not for beginners”. This had me a little concerned, as I had flashbacks of my red irritated face from the straight razor and did not want to go back to that ordeal again. I eventually found a good compromise, the Muhle R41. To purchase a complete R41, you are typically looking at $55; however, on Maggard Razors you can just purchase the Muhle R41 replacement head for $25. This is half the price it would cost for a whole new R41DE razor. This spoke to my frugal sensibilities and I went ahead and purchased. At this price I could not really lose if it was too aggressive. What I can tell you is this is one heck of a step up in the right direction if you are looking to improve your DE shave experience. Yes it is more aggressive than the standard DE; however, it is not too aggressive. It is kinda like the Goldilocks of the DE world, just right! You do need to watch your technique but the feedback is fantastic. I typically shave at night, as I don’t like to be rushed shaving, part of the whole experience is to slow down in life. With the standard Muhle R89 DE I would wake up with a tiny bit of stubble, nothing that kept me from being presentable in the office, but a small noticeable bit. With the R41 DE I wake up and my skin feels as though I just shaved! Could this be some sort of magic razor? I could not believe how close of a shave this gave me and I only needed two passes (WTG/XTG). I would highly recommend this purchase, especially at this price. Muhle products are quality and the chrome is exceptional as expected. Maggard Razors should be commended for keeping prices great and super fast shipping. I literally had it in 2 business days., bravo!

I didn’t want to spend the money for this shaver in case it ended up being too aggressive for me from reading reviews that says how easy it can bite but when Maggards offered just the head at the price they sell it for I had to try it and glad I did! With my other razors I usually do two passes with and against the grain with a lot of touch ups. Going across never seemed to do much for me. Well my first pass WTG was unbelievably so close I wasn’t going to do another pass. But then tried a second pass XTG and I had a BBS shave with little effort! No cuts nicks or burning sensation when I was done! Here it is twelve hours later and my face still feels smooth! I’ll soon be ordering a stainless handle for this head and maybe an extra head to have on hand. This is the razor for me. Loaded it with a rapira swedish super steel and my thick stubble was gone with little effort. Maggards are second to none when it comes to service and shipping!

this is the best razor i have found! i have been shimming my ej89 and that produces a pretty good shave, however, messing with the shims is a bit of a hastle. then along with Brads help, came the r41. true, you must be a bit experienced in wet shaving, but if you are careful you will love this razor head. i have tried darby, feather, silver blues, and astra superior platinum on 1 to 3 days growth, and so far i have not required a transfusion.( 1 weeper on 3 days growth with a darby). i also tried different soaps and creams. they all did well. they say it is the closest shave to a straight and it could very well be. way to go Brad for offering it for 26 bucks! you guys gotta try it!
Terrelle – October 14, 2015:
I order this head because I’ve been reading reviews on how it is a good aggressive shaver. Attached it to my Maggard Razors MR9 Stainless Steel Handle, prepared my face after a nice shower and received a great BBS shave. You can literally hear each hair getting slice by the feather blade. It is an aggressive shaver but felt great to me.
Not that bad
