This is the newer packaging for the Personna “lab blues.” The box is different, the wrappers are plain white. The question that has been all over the Internet for the past few years is: “are they the same blades?” This is very tricky — is there a difference, or do I just imagine there might be because of what I have read. After a few shaves and some critical thought, I have decided they are just the same as they always were. As far as blurred ink is concerned, the Med Preps have always been that way and they are a superb blade. I will second everything Frank has to say below.

    :

Hey maybe I’m cheap but I can get 10+ shaves per blade. Very sharp blade and smooth. Haven’t had a bad blade yet but only part way thru the 100 pack.

I prefer paying in the $10-11 range for these, but I paid the Maggard price to get free shipping. Its a fine blade, but I still prefer Polsilver and Israeli Crystal.

Ink stamp is always blurred. No biggie. Made in USA a biggie. Price is affordable, biggie. They are sharp and smooth. biggie. Paired with the right razor they are a favorite of mine. Like them better than Astra, another great blade. Second only to the med prep persona and feather in my merkur 34c HD. In more aggressive razors, I prefer these.

    :

Frankly, disappointed. I really wanted to like these blades — made in USA. There were many positive reviews, here and elsewhere. I purchased them from Maggard, rather than “elsewhere,” to insure getting “the real thing,” and because of Maggard’s record of excellent service. The quality of the blades I received is uneven, some pretty good, others not-so-good. The ink-stamped logos on all are blurred, as another reviewer observed, which raises doubts about overall quality-control. I wish I could be more positive, but my experience with these blades has been mixed at best. If there were another “made in USA” brand, I’d be glad to try them as well, but I would not return to these.

I’m gonna be brutally honest here and say these are overrated. In my DB89 they’re “fair” at best, with about every third or fourth blade being noticeably rough. Corking seems to help a bit, but even then some are still just too rough to get more than a single shave. A good one will give about three or four shaves. I also noticed some obvious quality issues with my most recent pack – the wrappers are crooked and the ink stamped logos are sloppy. Perhaps their quality control issues extend to the sharpening process as well. Not sure where I’ll go from here, but it won’t be back to Personna.

Maybe I got a bad bunch but these blades are the worst. Have used 15 from the pack & only get 2 shaves versus 4 from other blades. Had 1 blade that did not cut at all. Bought due reviews & Am. made, never again.

This is my other go-to blade (the first being the Gillette 7 O’Clock SharpEdge yellows). These were good in my Parker TTO but are even better in my Maggard razor with the V3 head. They are sharp and smooth, not as smooth as the SharpEdge but sharper so I get a good close shave with them. Most of the Russian blades I’ve tried have been pretty good but these are better and they are made in the good old USA.

    :

Great blades and at the right price. I didn’t get too deep into sample packs and chose these based on great feedback online. Very close head shaves with these and getting 2 shaves with one blade… could possibly get 3 but I do have course hair and like a new sharp blade.

    :

Some of the best blades on the market. Can usually get 4-6 shaves before needing a replacement. However, I wish I would have gotten the sampler pack instead of the 100 pack, there seemed to be more than a few duds in the box… Plus I ended up finding a blade from a different sampler pack I liked better than these. At least I know I’ve got a good supply of great blades when I need them.

Was looking for a high quality very sharp blade that won’t “break the bank”. Just received these blades in an order from Maggard razors, and tried them for the first time today. Being a regular Feather blade user, I would have to say these blades approach their sharpness and smoothness, but cost much less. The Personna blades provided me with a super close, irritation free shave. Excellent value! They will be a regular of my shaving regiment. Thank you Maggard razors for great service!

I will echo the other shavers’ reviews. Sharp & smooth. I have been using Astra SP, and they are good, but this feels better. Impressive blades.

    :

These are the only blades worth using. They are the only ones sharp enough for me, yet they are plenty smooth. Only blades made in USA. Enough said.

I’ve been shaving with DE razors for over a year now and these are my favorite blade…sharp and smooth and I go a week before changing the blade out…I will be ordering more of these until I have a good supply built up…I like the Gillette sharpedge as well, there also a smooth sharp blade but I think the persona is just a little sharper…these are the only blades I use now although I do try others at times just for fun….for the price you can’t beat these blades and I’m glad Maggards has them now as id rather get them from a reliable source like Maggards than off Amazon where I purchased my first bulk order of these…Maggards will always get my business first! Great service always!

My previous go-to blade had been the Asta Superior Platinum. I find that these Personna blades are noticably sharper, but not so sharp that I end up with a bunch of nicks and micro-cuts. These give me by the closest, most comfortable shave I’ve had since I picked up DE shaving. Also, they’re American-made. Very highly recommended.
