Product Description

Double-edge safety razors are the modern gentleman’s preferred way to shave. The personal adjustability of the Rockwell 6S allows you to adjust the razor to perfectly suit your skin, facial hair, and shaving soap – ensuring a close, smooth, and comfortable shave every time. Made of stainless steel, the Rockwell 6S not only looks elegant, but is hefty enough to ensure easy maneuvering and durable enough to survive a drop on the floor.

The Rockwell 6S includes the following all stainless steel components, made in the USA:

– Handle with knurled grip
– 3 reversible base plates providing sizes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
– Plate A: Sizes 1 and 3, Plate B: Sizes 2 and 4, Plate C: Sizes 5 and 6
– Blade cap
– 5 Rockwell double-edge razor blades

Each base plate has a different blade gap on each side. Just flip the plate over to get a brand new shave.

Why Use an Adjustable Safety Razor Like the Rockwell 6S?

You have unique skin and facial hair, and your razor should reflect that. Cartridge razors and standard safety razors pretend that one size fits all when shaving, which leads to irritation and cuts. The adjustability of the Rockwell 6S allows you to find a smooth, comfortable, and close shave every day, no matter what the condition of your skin or the length and thickness of your facial hair.

Try a Rockwell 6S with Rockwell Double-Edge Razor Blades to find your perfect shave!

The different sizes represent slight adjustments in the angle and gap between the blade and the razor. The Rockwell 6S includes all 6 sizes so you can discover your perfect shave. The Rockwell 6S uses affordable, comfortable, and recyclable double-edge razor blades. The Rockwell 6S is compatible with all blades, but we recommend Rockwell Double-Edge Razor Blades. Each Rockwell 6S comes with 5 Rockwell Double-Edge Razor Blades.

“The Rockwell 6S is manufactured using an innovative method that allows a 5-piece, stainless steel razor to be sold at this fantastic price. Along with this, each Rockwell 6S bears minor unique markings that reflect the manufacturing process. In our commitment to manufacturing in 100% stainless steel, these minor markings have not been coated over and may remain visible. These markings do not affect the shave.”

By far the best DE razor I have ever used, and I have used many,
including vintage, over the years. The Rockwell 6s is highly efficient
while being extremely smooth. I started using plate 3 but over time
graduated to using plate 5. My beard is what I classify as medium and
plate 5 strikes the ideal balance of effectiveness and comfort. This
razor offers 6 different plate settings making it highly adaptable to
your beard and skin. After using dozens of different DE razors over
the years the Rockwell 6s is the only one I reach for now.

Over my many years of wet shaving I have had Gillettes, Merkurs, Muhles, Above the Tie, and Feather safety razors. The Rockwell 6S may be the best of them all. Considering the price, it punches way above its weight. I have had it for a week and have used plates 2 through 5 and can tell you that the R5 plate is absolutely as close as a straight razor. Plates 2, 3, and 4 are just barely less close. All the plates are so comfortable and forgiving that you would have to be incredibly careless to cut yourself with this thing. The weight and balance seem perfect. The handle is a good length and thickness, and very nicely knurled. The 6S seems very robust and looks and feels like it should last forever. The appearance? Well that’s up to you. To me it looks and feels a little “industrial” — like a tool — but the shave is the thing, and by that criteria, it is perfect. Maybe the best shave I have ever had. If I had a son or nephew who was learning to shave, this would be the razor I would by for him.

Quality piece, and neat to play with the different heads. Bummed though ($$$) because I like my Maggard with V3 head better.

I used a Weber for about 3 years and really liked it but it always required a 4 pass shave to achieve BBS for me. With the Rockwell S on plate 5, I am able to achieve a daily BBS shave in 3 passes with no irritation or weepers. In fact, I find this razor to be very efficient at plate 5 with about 0% chance of doing bodily injury to my face. I can’t believe how I can mindlessly achieve a BBS shave without really paying attention. Smooth and efficient. However, I find little use for the plates less than 4.

The 6S is OK, but I went back to my Maggard MR1.

Nice razor in good price. I prefer polished finish, but it looks ok. Setting 1 and 2 is useless to me, because i have so thick beard . My go to setting is 4 or 5. Blade is revealing on both side about 2mm . I think its too much. Overall its good smooth shaver.

I dont know about rockwell . i used to use the same in the 80s which has 6 settings. I guess it used to made by Gillette Adjustable Safety Razors. May be it this is better improved

This is the best razor I have ever used because it combines buttery smoothness with adjustable efficiency. I can use Feather blades with the R6, most efficient, plate with no hint of irritation. I would say this combination shaves as closely as my Futur on 6 with a voskhod, but more smoothly and comfortably.
The weight of the stainless steel is a big advantage for me because I can let the heft do the work and it is easier to use no pressure on the razor. It also feels very solid and high quality in my hand. I knurling is effective, but not sharp – the razor never feels like I’m about to drop it.
It does cost more, but this razor has cured my RAD, and is likely the last DE razor I will ever need. I am very happy with my purchase.

A fantastic razor. The razor itself is solid and hefty, and feels like one of the things I own that will definitely oulast me. The plate system is great, too. but as another reviewer pointed out, it’s not THAT aggressive a razor even on R5 or R6.

Definitely a solid razor, and a great investment since the adjustable plates will allow you to adjust your DE razor as you want it. I just wish there was a more aggressive plate available.

At first, I was having a hard time figuring out which plates gave me the best shave, but, after a few shaves, I realized that a 3-pass shave using the 5-5-4 settings resulted in the best shave for me. Even though those are some of the more aggressive settings, it still remains a very smooth shaver and gives me very little irritation. This also has a nice weight to it, so it feels quite natural in the hand. As an added bonus, the packaging is great. NOTE: I did have an issue with my 1/3 plate having uneven blade gap, but I contacted Rockwell directly, and they have sent me a replacement 1/3 plate, so I can also vouch for their customer service (if needed).

I own thirty three different types of safety razors. The Rockwell, far and away, is the one least likely to provide a halfway decent shave. And it is the only one that proved outright *incapable* of providing a good shave. If you are looking for a razor that will cut whiskers efficiently (or even effectively!), then you do NOT want to get this razor.

My measurements: Handle: 72g, 85mm. R1/R3 plate: 32g. R2/R4 plate: 32g. R5/R6 plate: 33g. Cap: 15g. Total length (assembled razor, with blade): 96mm. Blade gaps: R1: 0.0015″ (0.04mm). R2: 0.012″ (0.30mm). R3: 0.013″ (0.33mm). R4: 0.022″ (0.56mm). R5: 0.026″ (0.66mm). R6: 0.030″ (0.76mm). (Note: When using the R1 plate, the blade was actually touching the guard for a blade gap of zero (0); however, my feeler gauge set includes an almost-foil-thin 0.0015″ gauge, and I was able to slide that in between the guard and the blade, so I gave it the 0.0015″ value.)

Obviously, the R1 blade gap is too tiny to be of use for any shaving purpose. To give you an idea of how tiny the other Rockwell blade gaps are, I used the same set of high precision feeler gauges to measure a few other closed comb razors. Here are those measurements: Current Feather Popular: 0.61mm. Circa 1970 Schick Krona: 0.56mm. 1956 Gillette Super Speed Regular (flair tip): 0.64mm. 1955 Gillette Super Speed Heavy (red flair tip): 0.71mm. 1963 Gillete Slim Adjustable (nine settings): 0.46mm, 0.56mm, 0.64mm, 0.71mm, 0.79mm, 0.86mm, 0.91mm, 0.99mm, 1.14mm. Current Parker Variant (five settings): 0.76mm, 0.89mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm, 1.3mm.

If I had thought to measure the blade gaps before I used the Rockwell, I would have returned it unused. I prefer mild razors, but, with the R1, R2 and R3 blade plates, the Rockwell 6S set takes mild to new, impractical extremes.

Furthermore, the design of the razor makes it even less efficient than the tiny blade gaps would dictate. For example, the R4 blade plate has about the same blade gap as the Schick Krona. However, the Krona is much more efficient — a single pass with the Krona yields an “acceptable” shave; whereas, a single pass with the Rockwell with the R4 plate yields a face covered with stubble. Even with the R6 plate, my face was covered with stubble.

I found that it *is* possible to get a halfway decent, but NOT good, shave with the Rockwell, with the R4, R5 and R6 blade plates, *IF* I changed my shaving style and shaved the way I used to when I used twin blade disposables: That is, I had to press the razor into my face in order to get a decent shave.

On the plus side: While this razor has trouble cutting whiskers, it also doesn’t cut skin. Even when I pressed the blade into my face, there was no scraping or cutting of skin at all — and I used brand new blades for each of my three test shaves.

This is the DE razor that ends my quest for the best razor for my face. Absolutely smooth wonderful shaves every time. So far I’ve tried Feather, Gillette Silver Blue, Polsilver Super Iridium and Astra SP. All perform wonderfully and no weepers. The last razor I will ever need (as long as they keep making DE blades).

  13. 5 out of 5

This is the last razor I will ever need to buy. It provides a close, comfortable shave; it can be modified to different beard growth; and stainless steel construction makes it nearly indestructible. After getting mine I bought one for my brother as a christmas present – he raves about it as well. It is a comfortable shaver even at the most aggressive setting!

In addition I have heard Rockwell is a very responsive company to customer issues. I feel good buying products from a company like that.

Buy a Rockwell – you won’t regret your purchase.

Heirloom quality. Very well made. Made in USA which is rare by itself. I love the adjustability. As always, find the blade that works for you and this should be a favorite razor hands down.

Well, Maggards has come through again, with the partnership of Rockwell razors.Just got this razor and used a included Rockwell blade. After viewing on You Tube, I used the R2 plate and had a irritation free BBS shave! The weight of the razor made it easy to let the razor do the work. I even used four passes in some areas with no problem. This is my first SS razor, but who needs more when this one works so well?Bought both the razor and the stand. This razor should be on display! For the sake of demographics, I am a relative novice DE shaver and have sensitive skin,in other words, I have never been able to do four passes without irritation before.

If I were stuck on a remote island, and I had to choose one razor to be stuck with, this is the one! This is my favorite safety razor in my den. I generally use a #3 setting, and the results are superb! The platting finish on the razor is beautiful, it doesn’t look cheap. I cannot wait until the Model T is out for release, but this gets the job done perfectly in the mean time. I highly recommend this product.

Received my 6S yesterday ordered on Saturday great service by Maggards! Used the razor for the first time tonight. Set it on the first setting R1 with a Personna blade and a 3 pass shave. What a Great Shave this razor gave BBS. Now have to work my way up the numbers. Would highly recommend The Rockwell 6S.

Glad to see the good folks at Maggard Razors offering the Rockwell 6S. I ordered mine at the end of the Kickstarted program and had to wait quite a while to actually get it, something you won’t have to do with Maggard. The 6S with the #4 base is the setup I use for my daily 3 pass shaving. As recommended by Rockwell, I started with the lowest base and worked my way up until I got to the base that best fit my beard. (As a point of reference, the #3 base is fairly equal to Maggard V3 head) The heft of the 6S is fantastic and the knurling provides wonderful grip. If you’re looking for a great stainless razor at a reasonable price, give the Rockwell 6S a try.

I can’t believe how great the quality of this razor is. I have been shaving with #3 plate and it’s giving me really great shaves. I wish this was available 2 1/2 years ago when i started shaving with a safety razor. What’s nice about this razor is, if you are just starting out, you have six (6) different aggression levels in one razor. My skin is very sensitive, so i will never go higher than plate #4. This razor is my favorite as i write this review July 18, 2016. And if the price stays at $99.00 i will be giving some as gifts to friend’s and family.

I can’t tell people enough this razor ended my quest for the perfect shave. I’ve tried so many straights and DE’s and this is the one. If I could have one razor for the rest of my life this would be it. The plate system is great and no need to worry about little parts breaking. This thing is solid.
The Rockwell 6S is the first razor to completely give me an irritation free shave that can be used daily.
    Don’t hesitate buy it.

The Rockwell 6s is my daily driver: Solid stainless steel precision craftsmanship. Excellent balance and design. Knurled grip for wet hands. Outstanding and supremely well-made: the Rockwell 6s will last several lifetimes. I use the #3, #4 and #5 settings depending on how frequently I am shaving and how much stubble has grown since the last time I shaved. Right now, I am using #4 base for daily shaving. I bought mine after Rockwell completed their Kickstarter development cycle / iterations. It’s a magnificent razor that’s worth every penny. Treat yourself with this fine high-performance shaving tool.

Can’t recommend this razor highly enough… 316 SS, real hardware tool look about it and very efficient with all of the settings. I use plate #2 for my daily driver and get bbs in 3 passes. If I skip shaving on the weekends I might jump to #4 on a Monday and clean things up with no problem or irritation at all. If you like an exceptionally aggressive razor (R41/iKon tech) this may not be for you, but for everyone else, I don’t think you would regret having this in your rotation.
