I think it goes without saying that this scent isn’t for everyone but if you take your time and smell it carefully I think you’ll smell all of those special nuances that help create Tabac’s hallmark scent and maybe even grow to love it as I did. Everyone should try it once. If you like it and keep it you’ll get the benefit of shaving with one of the slickest soaps on the market. It’s just as slick as all of the elite artisan soaps. It makes an absolutely cracking lather that is shiny, protective, and like I said, super slick. It’s a great soap from an entire generation ago that is still relevant today. Oh and also it’s easy to work with unlike Mitchell’s Wool Crap, I mean Fat… so if you’re new into wet shaving and want a classic, look no further!

Great stuff. Excellent performance and I liked the scent.

Smells like old lady’s laundry detergent. I put myself through a whole shave to see if the performance was anywhere near woth it, which it’s not. Just pick any artisan shave soap and the performance at least going to be the equal if not better. In particular, I was unimpressed by the post shave feel of this soap. Even if you happen to like this scent, I’d still not recommend walking around smelling like that.

It’s Tabac, if you are a wet-shaver you need to buy it and try it. It has a deep creamy floral tobacco vibe that you will either love or hate. I was ambivalent towards the aroma at first but as time moved on i’ve grown to absolutely love its bouquet. Performance-wise, it’s one of the best in the business and being a triple-milled hard soap, will last a long time. The slickness is the best in the business, whip the lather to a yogurt-like consistency with a nice sheen and your blade will cut stubble without that scratchy sound that feels like a bad shave and ends even worse. With Tabac you don’t feel the hair coming off it just does…..very smoothly. Great stuff!

Top-notch stuff! Tabac is an excellent performer and the scent is what it is. I like it; not everyone does. I admit that it seems a bit “old-fashioned,” but that isn’t always a bad thing. I will take exception from William — I find this to be a very thirsty soap, and need to use quite a bit of water to get the slickness I want. This does not seem to reduce the cushion at all. I do have soft water, and that may contribute to my experience with Tabac. If you have not tried it, I recommend that you give it a go. Tuesdays would not be the same without it!

I shave my head every morning and I get the smoothest, closest shave using Tabac and an Omega synthetic shaving brush compared to everything else I have tried over the years. I never get any irritation from it although I do apply a very small amount of coconut oil to my scalp when I’m done. Prior to growing a beard I used it on my face as well with great results. I love the scent and the thickness of the lather.

Don’t use to much water..then the lather is thick, and creamy..use a bore the scent…one of the best tallow based soaps..availed in stick

Fantastic soap. good lather. Great cushion and slickness. No irritation and good post shave skin condition. Not crazy about the scent, but gets better with time. Don’t sniff it when first opened. Leave it open to dry between shaves. You won’t be sorry you got this one. One of the best soaps I have used.

Love the smell. Subtle. Masculine. Good glide, but lather is on the thin side, perhaps due to my hard water. Works quite well, and takes me back to the 1960s when I used Tabac aftershave.

Glide is great and non irritating on my sensitive skin. Classic scent that has a tobacco flower nose. Not overly sweet and works fabulous with Chiseled Face Sherlock AS. Using the Tabac AS might be over the top… Get it from Maggard and enjoy supporting a small business that is passionate about wet shaving and top shelf service.

I can’t say enough good about this soap. I love the scent and the performance can’t be beat. I love the artisan soaps too, but if I had to pick a “desert island” puck, this would be it. Paired with some Wholly Kaw Jamestown Gentleman and I am ready to start my day feeling all old-timey and bad assed!

This soap provides a very slick lather, even in hard water. The lather is not as thick as some other soaps, but with how slick it is, it doesn’t need to be. The scent is difficult to describe, sort of a spicy orange/neroli with vetiver undertones. I believe the scent is popular in Germany and you can get Tabac cologne, soap, deodorant, etc. I used the Tabac cream in the past, and the cream’s scent is much more potent and in your face. With the soap, the scent is smoother, milder, inoffensive. The soap lathers into a pale beige, unlike the cream’s jarring neon green.

Overall, this is one of my favorite soaps. It can be a bit pricey, generally, but here the replacement puck goes for $16, which is significantly lower than the prices on Amazon.

One of the best soaps on the market. I love the scent (and am in my 30’s) but some think it smells old man-ish. If you like the scent, you will love the soap.
