If you like a gentle brush, this is it. I have several brushes I call gentle, whose knots are very soft on the face. If you get the brush, approach on its own terms and enjoy the gentle feel. I like variety in my brushes — I see no point in having several brushes that all provide the same shaving experience. Variety — a range of resilience, a range of texture on the face, a range of loft length, a range of bristle type (boar, horsehair, badger, synthetic) — that's what appeals to me. I pick the brush to match my mood, and this brush absolutely excels for when I want a gentle touch. It is easy to load, and it feels good in the hand as well as on the face. I like it, but it's wise not to expect it to be something it's not.

I buy boar shaving brushes for massage. This brush is VERY soft, if you hold it not by the handle, but by the pile, there is still no massage. Sensation that I smear my face with a paint brush.

This beats all other boar brushes I have (including Semogue Owners Club Taj ivory handle, Semogue 620, 830 and 1305, and Omega 10098). And even among my synthetic and badger brushes, this is my favorite shaving brush, let me get that out of the way. Lathers great, not scritchy at all. It’s taller than most - so a paint brush motion is preferable to circular scrubbing motions but I still do both on my face and always have an absolutely comfortable feel. I love the heftier weight of the handle too. I’d compare this most to my Semogue 830 which is softer than the Owners Club, and for me way more comfortable without being useless wet noodles. I don’t know how these bristles compare to Omega’s other large Pro brushes but this is an absolutely luxurious brush.

I would like to remove my June 25 review if I may because I was much too hasty in evaluating this brush. On further experimentation, I found that soaking just the tips does the trick. Soft face feel, lots of backbone, and tons of lather. Fully the equal of the SOC. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this brush in Rome because it is great looking and VERY Italian. I was on vacation and susecptible to anything Italian. Sorry to say that I am very dissapointed. The loft is way to high and the brush is way too floppy. It doesn’t hold enough water to make a good lather. If you are looking for a great boar brush get the SOC.

Exceptional brush. Have been using it for almost 2 years. Before this, I had some reluctance about using boar but decided to give it a try. Rarely do I use badger anymore. Solid, high-quality, well-constructed brush. Really enjoy the longer handle and bristles, which after breaking in, offer soft tips while keeping backbone. Used it this morning for a really smooth shave, prompting this review. Well worth the price. Maggard does it again as I can't seem to find this offered elsewhere.
